initial thoughts December 4, 2008 Arnab Chakladar (boulder, colorado) i have edited this review to remove the minor complaint about there not being instructions on how to install the car seat base. the explanation is that i am a moron: there is a separate manual for the car seat and base and i'd just overlooked it. --- 1. i'm very happy we purchased this before the price shot up by $50. purchased it on sunday for $137, and it is at $187 now. 2. it arrived today, and it took me less than 20 minutes to put it together. i emphasize this because i am not particularly good at putting things together. at first glance i thought the instructions were not detailed enough, but then i realized it was taking me no time at all anyway--it is a fairly intuitive process, and there are lots of reassuring clicks along the way so you know you've done things correctly. 3. we're not going to be actually using this for another two months so i can't speak to practical use issues--i hope it will work as well as it looks (it's really quite a stylish combo, especially as compared to the graco systems). however, there is one thing that i can tell already will not work: the seat back can nominally be raised for a child that doesn't want to recline quite as much. however, given how little hand pressure it takes for it to release back to the default setting, i can't imagine it'll work with >22 pounds of weight pushing back on it. that said, the default recline setting is far from horizontal so i doubt it will be an issue. 4. folding and unfolding is a breeze. no problems folding it with just one hand. just remember to lock the front and back wheels before folding so that it doesn't tip over. 5. the release mechanism for the carrying handle of the car seat is a little fussy though--that's pretty much the one thing that doesn't just flow smoothly. i guess we'll know in two months whether that will be a big problem. 6. the stroller and the infant seat are both light. but they also look and feel solid and safe. and did i say it is a very stylish stroller? this may be an issue for those looking for something very "kiddie"; this is not. 7. i have given it four stars for now, because of the seat recline issue, and also because the car seat handle swivel mechanism isn't as smooth as the rest. also, i think it would be wrong to give it 5 stars at this point since we haven't actually used it yet. i'll reconsider the rating once we've got some real use from it in a couple of months. i'm happy to answer any questions people thinking about purchasing this may have, and i'll try to remember to come back and post once we actually have the cargo available.
Very Very Happy With It November 25, 2008 M. F. Winter (Brooklyn, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased the stroller for our first baby.. and very very happy with it. Researched all the other strollers and were not happy with the little wheels and/or the prices. Came across this one at $119 and luved the look of it. After reading the reviews... luved it more. We have used it quite often over the past 6 weeks since our son was born and greatly enjoy it. One problem.. or puzzlement... I unlock the front wheels and it swivels eradically... so I keep it locked and it is great... so no idea why someone would unlock them and what use they have unlocked ? My wife soon will jog and try this out as a jogger.. though think we need a dedicated jogger. But for a travel system.. we are very very happy and would recommend it. Easy in and out of the car and fits the newborn easily and absorbs the rocks and rolls from strolling in out neighborhood... though our son is a deep sleeper :) Great stroller and travel system and recommend it.
Indeed a heavy travel system November 16, 2008 Hari (Westchester, NY USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Based on the reviews here, I ordered it with Amazon and received it within couple of days, very easy to assemble and use. Excellent service as usual by amazon. Using it for almost 3 months now, I found more cons than pros Pros: => Solid construction. Cons: => Slightly heavier than the usual Graco and hence wife says its difficult to handle by herself. => Although it says... it can be opened/closed in one hand doesn't seem that easy. => The child seat material is synthetic plastic like, which gets very hot in summer & very cold in winter.. meaning you cannot leave the child seat in car, cloth would've been nice. => Child seat is also larger than usual ones, which seem to require lot more room when placed in my minivan 2nd row. => Because of the design/angles the newborn almost ends up sitting up right, makes it highly inconvenient for them and defeating the purpose. A slight inclination or adjustment would've really helped here. => The basket beneath the seat is also smaller compared to other such systems out there. So, my suggestion is, please go out and try this and other brands at a local store and see what best fits your needs.
Decent Travel System for the Price November 12, 2008 K. Benson 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was under the impression that this was a jogger; it isn't. The car seat sits too upright for a newborn. My baby ends up sliding down in it, and the angle of the car seat is too harsh, so that my child's neck is not supported and rolls forward. Someone must sit in the backseat next to the car seat at all times to support her neck. Fortunately, my mother-in-law came across some really bulky strap covers at Babies R Us and purchased those, so we are able to wedge them in on either side of the baby, so she does slump forward. The travel system also has no "shock absorbency," and your child will more than bump, bump, bump all the way down any surface that falls short of paved perfection. Also, if you live in a hilly or mountainous area and plan on walking the baby in the stroller up any incline, your baby will probably also fall a bit forward in the seat, as mine does when I walk with her up a hill in this stroller. I had to take a break on the way up (it wasn't that steep, either) due to her head rolling forward due to no support of the stroller as well as her wailing because of the constant bumps (she virtually never cries at any other time). However, it looks somewhat cute and is convenient in terms of the one-click disengage function. It also has a considerable amount of storage space, which is nice, and it is supposed to last from the newborn stage through childhood, which is nice, but I cannot attest to whether it holds up to this or not, as my child is still a newborn. I also like all of the cup storage space on the stroller.
Happy... The car seat fits in my convertible car!!!! October 11, 2008 Majid (TX, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was very worried when I placed this order, * Well the car seat fit in my old convertible car? Will the stroller fit in the back of my car? * Heavy or light? My wife will be using it most of the time. * Not a well known product name? do I risk it? I received the box a week ago, the product is packaged professionally, and it only took 2 days to arrive, the product looks great, and the car seat is equipped with everything you need. Assembly of the stroller didn't take much, 15-20 minutes max. Since this is my first child, the car seat was a bit of a challenge, but at the end it was installed properly despite that my small back seat was the challenging part. The only drawback, which was mentioned before in one of the reviews, the picture shows a silver-black color, but in reality it is baby blue-black. Other than that I am very satisfied with this product, and would highly recommend it to others.
