Lamaze toys

Amazon.com
Although this toy may seem to be just a plush cube, it's anything but. This compact little square tackles four of the senses through a variety of discovery-oriented features. The visual stimulation this toy provides is the most obvious of the sensory features. A combination of brightly colored pictures and black-and-white patterns grace each of the six sides. The variety of textures on the cube—a mixture of fleecy and satiny sides, fabric handles that are soft and fuzzy or flat and scratchy, and hard plastic rings—provide baby with some interesting surfaces to touch. For baby's auditory development, the cube produces some crinkly paper sounds and jingles when shaken. The cube even awakens baby's sense of smell with its refreshing green apple scent. And, while baby is welcome to teethe on the Clutch Cube's plastic rings, Lamaze hasn't developed any innovations just yet that add the final sense—taste—to this cube. This early learning toy is safe for babies from birth on and can be surface cleaned if it gets dirty. --Cristina Vaamonde

5 out of 5 stars No longer contains TCEP   March 31, 2008
Susan Kishel (U.P. Michigan, USA)
This was one of my baby's favorite toys as a newborn until he was several months old. After I read the reviews on this product, I became concerned about the TCEP issue and contacted the company. I got a good response explaining that although the product was recalled in Denmark in Feb 2005, they did immediately take steps to reformulate it and since then it has no longer contained TCEP. So, remember, not everything you read on the internet is current, although it is certainly worth looking into!

I got more bang for my buck out of this toy than any other that I bought or received for my baby's first several months. Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars She plays with it, when she's bored.   August 26, 2007
Stephen A. Lajoie (Seattle, WA USA)
I think my baby likes simpler things. I can easily distract my 8 month old from playing with this toy with a simple card board box, a newspaper, a book on quantum mechanics (she tries to eat the book), a dog chewie (she cries when I take the dog chewie away, but not when I take away this toy). She does better when she and I play with it together, when I tell her about the different pictures, rings, and colors on it.

I have given this as a gift for new borns and they love it as they are able to hold it. I think Lamaze toys are gorgeous and beautifully made. The colors really draw you to them.
