Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
It's 2 toys in 1! As a sturdy, stable walker, the Step Start Walk 'n Ride toy helps babies learn to stand, take their first steps, and walk. As the grow older, it easily converts to a first ride-on toy! It has a locking mechanism that only parents can activate, so children can't change modes by themselves. Kids can explore the hands-on activities in both the walker and ride-on modes to see fascinating sights, hear silly sounds and touch interesting textures. Adult assembly required

Editorial Review
When little wobblers are bored with walls and sofa edges, and there's no one to offer a hand, they can two-foot it safely across that open ocean of living-room floor with the help of the Step Start walker. This dual-purpose toy acts as stable support as they learn to walk, then lets them roll along when they want to ride. Once they are secure on their legs, the walker converts easily to a first ride-on toy. (Only adults can operate the wheel-lock mechanism.) A flexible antenna, spinning drum, clicking gear, and other sight-touch-sound features provide sit-down play fun. Assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver. --Ava Natov

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful!   November 29, 2008
Mrs. Featherstone
My 10 month old daughter loves this toy. We just aim it in the right direction and away she goes. She has gained more confidence since using this toy. She loves the activities...opening the door, spinning the rattle. She absolutely loves it. She is too young to ride on it though.

5 out of 5 stars Great Toy for Beginning Walkers   November 29, 2008

This is a great toy for a baby that is steady on their feet but a little unsure of walking unassisted. My son loves to push it around. I would not recommend it on hard wood floors for a baby that is not fairly steady on their feet, the wheels move pretty fast when the carpeting is not there to slow them.

2 out of 5 stars She didn't learn to walk with this...I can tell you that!   November 26, 2008
Contrary2 (Metairie, LA USA)
I bought this walk n ride for my youngest when she was almost ready to walk (about 11 months). She wouldn't fool with it too much but instead use the shopping cart I had when my oldest was young. She preferred the shopping cart even though it moved more quickly but she would always reach for the shopping cart first. I still have the walk n ride but its sitting in the backyard. I seem to remember her feet tripping on the wheels while using as a walker. I think there are better walkers out there.

3 out of 5 stars It's only OK   November 24, 2008
Kat (San Francisco, CA)
When my 11 month old son decided that walking around pushing around a rectangle laundry basket was the best mode of transportation, my mom decided that her grandson should have a proper walking toy to play with instead of the "ghetto version". Besides - it was on sale. Needless to say, after finally figuring out how to use this Walk 'n Ride, my son still prefers to cling onto chairs, laundry baskets, and even small garbage cans to push around. While it's not a total loss as he enjoys pushing this toy around while crawling, I really don't think he actually cares much for this toy. I actually wouldn't recommend buying a walker/pushing toy like this for a kid - it seems like my son is learning how to walk faster by trial and error on regular household items.
