flap style 4th gen Nano case September 30, 2008 Larry Tate (Atlanta) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been using this case for about a week and am very pleased. I compare it to the Belkin flap type case which I reviewed a few years ago for the 1st Nano. See my review if still on Amazon. It differs in basically 3 ways - first the Belkin is set up so that when wearing it on a belt it flips open so you can see the Nano without removing it from the belt/waist band - this is handy but not essential. Second the Belkin uses a magnetic/snap type closure and this is only a snap closure - no big deal. Third the padding on the Belkin is a little thicker. One advantage of this case is it allows the clip to be rotated so the case can be wore vertical or horizontal. Overall the Belkin case is higher quality, but this one is not bad at all and I don't know that Belkin has a 4th gen Nano case yet. Regarding the cling film screen protector, I have not used the one that came with this case as I had already fashioned one from a previous cling type protector, but a word of caution be careful you don't throw away the actual protector and try to use one of the packaging sheets that comes on it. I agree with the previous reviewer that cases that have a clear window as part of the case itself wind up getting scratched and eventually have to be cut out. The cling film is much better. In summary not quite as good as Belkin, but a very good case. Holds Nano securely, allows syn cord and headphone to be attached without removing it from case, small, decent quality, secure snap fastener, keeps your new 4th gen Nano safe. Not bad at all. The 4th gen Nano is pretty cool itself.
Nice Case September 30, 2008 M. J. McDermott (PENNSYLVANIA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this case with the mind set that when other "name brand" cases become available, I will replace this one. Why you ask? Well, in the past, many items I've purchased with the "made in china" label were of low quality. However, this is NOT the verdict with this case - to my surprise this is a very nice case. It fits the 4th Gen Nano very well, not overly snug but tight enough to keep it protected. You have access to all controls without having to take the iPod out of the case, a huge plus in my book. Some may not like this feature of the case, I really like it. There is no plastic sleeve sewn onto the case, covering the screen or wheel. Instead, they provide a clear screen protector that you put on the actual iPod screen, and nothing covering the actual clicker wheel. My own experience with cases is that the plastic cover gets stuff caught under it, or it buckles and just does not look right. Since there is no plastic sleeve on this case, this is not an issue and the end result is a very sleek looking device! This review is for the open "Sleeve" style case, not the closed "Flap" style case. I gave this case a 4 star rating because the 4th Gen Nano is so new to the market there really is nothing else to compare this case to.
