3 out of 5 stars Didn't work for what I bought it for   October 26, 2008

I bought this to have in our bedroom so my son could be close to us until I was comfortable having him in the nursery. I thought I would get more use out of this then a side-crib or bassinet. The bassinet support wasn't very supportive or firm. It would sag under his weight (7lbs) and after his 3rd night (ie 3 days old) I awoke and found him on his side twice. This scared me since he was too young to turn himself back over. After watching him I realized that all he had to do to turn over was arch his back and the elasticity in the support would buckle enough that he would end up on his side. We ended up taking it down and storing it until we travel or he's old enough to hang out at the bottom and sit up to be lifted out.

I think the product would work great as a play pen, travel bed (if using the bottom only). Assembly was easy after we got the hang of it and it was easily portable from room to room. The plastic side was a nice touch if you don't plan on moving it much. The bassinet portion just didn't work for me.

5 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Attractive, Convenient   October 24, 2008

This is a great playard. It is sturdy, attractive, easy to set up and put away, is great for travel, and comes with convenient features such as a diaper/wipes caddy, changer and bassinet.

We never used the bassinet part on ours, so I do not know how that works. However, I can tell you that the changer is super convenient, especially for travel when you will be away from your home and your changing table. My baby loved lying in the changer, it is safe and sturdy and comfy for your baby to lie in.

My only gripe would be that the mattress seems a little hard and is not as padded as I would wish. This may be a safety feature, and I figure - what more can you expect from a mattress that is supposed to fold up and fit in a carrying case? My baby sleeps great in this, though, and I usually just put a thick blanket on top of the mattress to make it more comfy.

This playard is great, I would definitely recommend it.

3 out of 5 stars MIDDLE CLASS SLEEPER   June 23, 2008

THE PORTA-CRIB IS OK. THE BASSINET HAS TOO MUCH GIVE AND THE PAD DIDN'T GIVE MUCH SUPPORT. MY DAUGHTER WOULDN'T SLEEP IN IT. SO I ENDED UP PUTING A PORTA-CRIB MATTRESS IN IT EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS NOT TO. IT DID SEEM TO GIVE IT MORE SUPPORT AND SHE FINALLY SLEPT IN IT. I DID LIKE THAT IT HAD A CADDY FOR THE DIAPERS AND WIPES. ALTHOUGH MY DAUGHTER IS ONLY THREE MONTHS AND ALREADY TOO BIG FOR THE CHANGING TABLE. ALL IN ALL, I GOT WHAT I PAID FOR. IT IS DEFINATELY GOOD ENOUGH FOR VACATIONS. HOPEFULLY, WHEN SHE IS BIG ENOUGH BE PUT IN THE BOTTOM IT WILL BE MORE USEFUL TO US.

4 out of 5 stars Sturdy Consruction   April 21, 2008

The BabySuite has a really solid construction and seems to be very well built. The whole thing folds up really easily into the carring case. I would have given it a 5 star review but the only complaint that I have about it is that it is really hard to get the latches into place. It does require some significant strength or paticence to fully assemble it. I am not too conserned about it though because that means that I will not have to worry about it easily falling apart and as well the manuel did mention that the first few times the latches would be a bit stiff. Over all if I had the choice I would buy it over and over again.
