Amazon.com Review Having spent nearly the last five decades innovating ideas for infants and toddlers, BabyBjörn is consistently tweaking their products to meet parents' high standards of quality, functionality, and safety. So it's no surprise that this BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Active is the leader of the 'packs. Parents who swear by the original, hands-free BabyBjörn carrier may be skeptical when hearing this style is even better, but it's true. | | Padded, contoured shoulder straps and lumbar adjustment make this carrier comfortable for the wearer. | Developed with on-the-go parents in mind, Baby Carrier Active offers increased back support by way of a sliding lumbar adjustment that conforms to your torso. (You should ensure that you have the carrier adjusted correctly each time you put it on, as baby's size changes and other users may have moved settings.) This extra support relieves stress on shoulders and backwhich is helpful when you've underestimated the strain of carrying a 26-, 15-, or even 8-pound baby. This Carrier Active also features fully adjustable shoulder straps that can accommodate taller and/or bigger parents. The wide, cushioned, contoured straps help to evenly distribute baby's weight. | | When infants face outward, the built-in head support for newborns folds down in front. | A size adjustment buckle allows BabyBjörn's carrier to grow with babyfrom as early as 8 pounds and at least 21 inches (about one week old) to a maximum weight of 26 pounds. Newborns first face inward using the padded, adjustable head support to keep them stable, while older babies face outward with the head support folded down in front of them. The unique design lets mom breastfeed baby discreetly, plus the front piece can be easily removed so as not to wake a sound sleeping baby when taking off the carrier. The material is a breathable, machine-washable cotton/polyester blend that keeps everyone cool and comfortable. Another great quality to the BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Active is the straightforward assembly and color-coded latches. These features make it easy for one person to manage baby and carrier when necessary.
Amazon.com Product Description Made for parents on-the-go, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Active lets you walk for miles and stay close to your child while keeping your hands free. Designed for babies weighing at least eight pounds and measuring 12 inches, up to a maximum weight of 26 pounds, this durable, comfortable and safe carrier gives you the freedom to enjoy long walks and shopping excursions without sacrificing quality time with your child.

BabyBjorn relieves strain on your back, neck, and shoulders. View larger | Comfortable Carrying Sturdy enough to support heavier children for long periods of time, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Active helps protect both you and your child. The carrier's innovative design allows you to keep active without worrying about strain on your back, neck and shoulders. Wide, padded and contoured shoulder straps evenly distribute baby's weight, while the sliding adjustable lumbar pad conforms to your torso and offers support for long term comfort. Additionally, should you need to make adjustments for more or less support, you can easily do so in most cases from the front, an option that's particularly convenient if you're traveling without another adult. Flexible Design That Grows With Your Child The BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Active also provides uncompromising support for your little one's back and head, making sure his or her legs and arms are always in a physiologically correct position. Newborns and very young babies stay close to your heart and face in for warmth and soothing comfort. Soft padding also keeps their head and neck stable, even if your walks take you on uneven terrain or you pick up your speed. As your child grows, this carrier gives you the option of folding down the neck-rest so your child can face forward and look around. He or she will love being able to explore the world while still remaining close to mom or dad. In addition, the size adjustment buckle makes sure baby remains protected throughout his or her development. Helps Facilitate Feeding and Nap Times The BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Active's unique design is both straightforward and helpful during napping and feeding times. First, thanks to the color-coded latches, it assembles in minutes. Secondly, when your child faces you, you can easily and discretely breastfeed him without first removing him from the carrier. Finally, the front piece removes quickly so you won't have to worry about waking a sleeping baby when you're taking off the carrier. Easy-Care, Eco-Friendly Construction Made to last and stand up to the normal wear and tear caused by outdoor excursions, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Active is made of easy-care cotton and polyester for breathability and cool comfort. To clean the carrier, simply machine wash it separately in warm water with a gentle, bleach-free detergent, and hang to dry. You'll also appreciate that this convenient and helpful carrier is approved in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1, eco-certification, so you can trust it's safe for baby. BabyBjorn Active Carrier November 24, 2008 M. Norton This carrier is really nice. My son prefers to be held upright rather than in a lying down position so it certainly is convenient for me. I like the convenience it provides.
Much better carriers out there November 20, 2008 New Mom in the City (New York) Baby Bjorn was the pioneer for baby carriers 10 years ago but since then there has been an explosion in the market - slings, front carriers, pouches, etc. The BEST, in my honest opinion, is the Ergo. The baby sits with correct posture (The Bjorn is not so great for the baby's spine) and the parent is not in pain! I can walk for hours with my 20 lb baby in the Ergo -- not so in the Bjorn.
A must have! November 15, 2008 anjil88 (Wisconsin) The "active" version with ,lumbar support is definately superior to the other Bjorns. I use this for hours at a time for everything from housework to shopping to walks and my daugher loves it. It is well constructed and made with durable and heavey duty fabric. It also washes easily (but fades a bit). I am petite and it provides good supprort (she is now 18 lbs). We also have the black and white Bjorn without the lumbar support and my upper back and shoulders tire much faster. The only thing that is bad about this product is the price - buy this online or at a second hand store if possible (they are usually more than half the retail price and never too worn out since they are so durable). This is a must have for newborns and infants.
Great carrier November 8, 2008 The baby bjorn carrier is pretty comfortable to carry your baby around in. It's nice that it's adjustable for the parent and baby. I get a bit sore after an hour lugging my daughter in, but how could you not be sore or tired for lugging a baby??? Babies aren't exactly light!
Good for short trips, but ERGO much better October 29, 2008 L. Ensign I(mom) own the ERGO and the Baby Bjorn Active and a sling, and have used a Snugli. The ERGO is by far the best baby carrier out there. All of the others hurt my shoulders/neck after 15-30 minutes. The ERGO is comfortable, and distributes most of the weight to my hips/legs. I've been on many hikes (20+) with Kai(baby) in the ERGO, the longest being 7 miles (almost 4 hours), with no problems. Our first hike was when he was 3 weeks, and we are still hiking with the ERGO at 7 months. He loves it, and falls asleep in it every time we go hiking. The only problem is that you can't have the baby face out. For the first 3 months, that didn't matter- Kai was perfectly happy to face me and snuggle in- I used the head cover for shade and he slept happily... At 4 months, he wanted to see what was going on, but he couldn't hold up his head well enough to sit in the ERGO 'backpack' fashion, so I bought the Baby Bjorn Active. Kai liked it, Lars(dad) liked it, I tolerated it for up to 45 minutes, but just couldn't bear any hike longer than that. Also, Kai's legs hang down in front so that they hit your legs when you walk uphill- irritating to Lars. Kai also can't really sleep in the Baby Bjorn. (I'm sure he would have when he was little and facing inward, but with him facing outward, there isn't a comfortable sleep position for his head.) We use the Baby Bjorn for short trips, like in stores and around the house, and its great for that, but we started using the ERGO as a backpack for long hikes again when Kai turned 6 months. He loves looking around, and when he falls asleep, I just put the head cover on to help hold his head next to me. I haven't figured out how to get him in the ERGO backpack fashion by myself yet, so I have to get help for that. Also noteworthy: the Baby Bjorn has absolutely NO storage- not even a little zipper pocket. The ERGO has enough room for 3 diapers, a small pack of wipes, an extra bib and onesie, my car keys, cell phone and small snack. This makes a big difference for hiking- all I have to carry in my hands is my water bottle(s), and I use a carabiner to clip the bottle to the waistbelt so I am hands-free. We recently bought a Sherpani Rumba and Kai and Lars love that, too. It's a bit heavy for me, but I'm getting used to it. It gives Kai wonderful views, a comfortable seat, and provides LOADS of storage.
