I love my boppy nursing pillows so I was hoping their new sling would be good too. I wasn't excited about the tan color or feel of the material and I wanted to try it on so I went to babiesrus and they also have very nice darkbrown/blue boppy slings! Not only does it look great and feel soft but it goes over both shoulders to reduce back pain.
I don't know about the suffocation complaint, but my little one does just fine in the sling, I feel safe with the belt so I can take my twin 2 year olds for a walk while having my hands free. He has never overheated in the sling or gasped for air. If anything I feel the way the sling cuddles him is like being in the womb.

As a sling guru who has used various slings such as the Maya Wrap, Over-The-Shoulder-Holder, and Infantino carriers, I LOVE the Boppy Sling! While you can use any sling when your child is 8lbs., try toting an 18lbs. baby around in a sling that only goes over only one shoulder! A unique feature of this sling is that it distributes the weight to both shoulders where I am not aching after 30 minutes. In fact I am so comfortable, I feel like I could wear it for hours. I also love that there is a strap inside the sling to hold my baby, where I don't get as nervous about him slipping into an uncomfortable position or falling out. It has the perfect amount of padding in the shoulders and the mesh is very breathable for even my hot FL weather where I am not concerned at all with my baby being too hot or suffocating. Best of all I love all the adjustments and buckles that make it fit me and my baby perfectly. I felt so secure with how he fit and the double straps that I was able to follow my 2 yr. old daughter around the park for 2 hours while he slept soundly. While I didn't have great success with other slings, I feel very secure with this easy to use, versatile, comfy sling!

Yet another example of a poorly-positioned, poorly-constructed pouch-style sling. Like the Slingrider, these sling styles cause baby to sink low in the pouch with their head curved onto their chest. This chin-to-chest postitioning (see product photos!)closes baby's airway and causes asphyxiation. Additionally, positioning belt causes baby to roll towards mom's body, forcing baby's nose and mouth against the side of the sling and causing rebreathing and suffocation. The final zoom-in shot of the mother talking on her cell phone with baby invisible in the pouch of this sling is appalling! The mesh panels on this sling are insufficient to provide enough oxygen flow for a completely-enclosed baby. Babies are not purses! And neither are baby carriers! Boppy and KidsII should know better than to copy Infantino's mistakes. Please try a different carrier such as a Mei Tai, Bjorn, Pikkolo, Ergo, unpadded ringsling (zolowear, ellaroo) for your baby instead of this type of sling.
