Product Description Our #1 selling hip carrier. This carrier combines the benefits of carrying your baby on your hip with stylish and easy-to-use design. This is the only hip carrier on the market with a shoulder strap that cups the shoulder, rather than riding up toward the wearer's neck. Add the supportive waist strap, and you have a very practical, comfortable baby carrier. A fantastic solution for any baby over 3 months. We even know many moms who still use this into the toddler years! 90% sustainably-harvested organic cotton or hemp

I LOVE my Mei Hip! September 12, 2008 E. Heller (Seattle, WA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We started out with a Baby Bjorn after my son was born that a relative gave us. It was fine for the first few months but, once he hit 17 lbs the shoulder pain was just out of control. We did a bunch of research online and found lots of positive reviews for the Ellaroo Mei Hip. I ordered it and have truly never looked back. It is so incredibly comfortable, even now when he is far heavier. (He is nearly a year old now.) All of the weight is down on my hip and I regularly walk the 3 mile path around the lake by my house with him on my hip with very little effort and no pain. It also packs so small & light that it is really easy to keep in the diaper bag and pull out whenever we get somewhere in the car. A great product!
Nice to look at - that's it June 15, 2008 semifl (Philadelphia PA USA) Pros: Attractive and sturdy material Well made - canvas and plastic are durable No frills - simple design and easy (intuitive) to use Cons: Puts the weight of the entire child on one shoulder: we had back problems within hours of the first use Rather expensive for its substance: could be easily made in an hour on any sewing machine with less than $10 of materials When our daughter was 6-7 months we tried this carrier and her legs fell asleep and her inner thighs were bright red (we follow the instructions carefully, as any parent would) By the time it was cool enough to use it again (having a toddler strapped to your body raises the outside temp by about 8 degrees) she was more interested in walking around and being on her feet. I don't know why you would want to sling a toddler more than 20 lbs or 12 months if they are walking. In closing: It is what it is and it does what it does; it just wasn't the best fit for our family. If you are buying it knowing you want a sling and what the implications of slinging your child are, then this is a great choice. We personally thought we would use it a ton and were selling it online after the third attempt to use it.

GREAT ITEM AT A GREAT PRICE!
Ellaroo Mei Hip! March 24, 2007 J&K (NJ, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am giving to this carrier 10 stars! I was using it for 2,5 years and absolutely love it! My two babies love it too. Highly reccomend this carrier.
I loved it January 12, 2007 K. Morgan (Seattle, WA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been using the Mei Hip since my son was 7 months old (for 5 months). I love Ella Roo products. I also have the Mei Tai. The key to comfort is to spread the strap across the shoulder so the weight is distributed. It makes running errands and work around the house so much easier. It positions your baby at the hip so you have more range of motion than if he was on your belly/chest as with other carriers. I fully recommend the mei hip. Though I would wait until your baby can hold his head up well as there is no head support so it is not for new babies.
