The playful animal-themed cover puts a friendly face in baby's view, and the colorful lightshow is sure to mesmerize little ones. 1 out of 5 stars Do not buy.   November 29, 2008

I purchased two of these MP3 players, one for my infant son, and another for my 3 year old son. Both of them were handled by adults so neither was exposed to "toddler handling". At first they were very nice, one was put in my infants crib so he could go to sleep to Baby Einstein, the other one was kept on a shelf in my toddlers room out of reach unless it was in use.

Neither player lasted more than a month. The one in the crib stopped working after 1 week, and the one for my toddler lasted almost a full month before it too stopped playing.

Unfortunately I purchased both at Toys R Us which has a very un-friendly return policy so they ended up in the trash as $100 wasted.

Definitly avoid purchasing these, I will most likely just buy 2 1GB MP3 players and finding a better solution that I know wont break so quickly.

5 out of 5 stars Both our baby and toddler love this MP3 player!   November 22, 2008

We bought this for our first child and thought we'd pass it along to our second child. Well, it's too much of a favorite to pass along. Our toddler loves being able to play his favorite songs as well as listening to messages we record for him on his MP3 player. It comes in especially handy when my husband has to travel since my husband always records a special message for my son.

Our second son (8 months) has his own and loves to watch the lights and play the music.

I bought both MP3 players at Babies R Us for about $40 each. I also bought one for my friend's child through toysrus.com for a cheaper price as well.

5 out of 5 stars Why this is the only one?   October 29, 2008
Mr. Vlastimil Chvojka (Reading, United Kingdom)
Prior to buying I've read some other reviews on this site, some of which filled me with doubts. At the end I decided to give it a go. Now I can tell you this was the coolest thing I could get my daughter for her 2nd birthday. She takes it everywhere with her and plays with it every single day (maybe not so good for parents, but what can we do...). We found the cover described in some other reviews as "strange" simply nice and funny. It is also OK to use the toy without it. My daughter learned all the controls in a day or two (this includes the ones on the back for switching the playlist and playtime), so no problem there. The player can go from very quiet to surprisingly loud and still play very well.

Someone was also mentioning it plays only one song at the time. There are four modes of play - single song (you must press the play button after every song), some 20-odd minutes (don't remember exactly) and the whole playlist. There is also a shuffle mode. And, it comes with probably all the good old classics, such as Twinkle twinkle little star, etc., so you don't need to be getting those on CD...

There is some CD with some software for your PC, which I chose not to use and simply uploaded the songs to the card to the specific directory, which seems to be working as well. Only one negative point, the memory card is relatively small (128MB/2hours), my daughter's music collection is already much bigger :))) Maybe someone could think of a version which takes interchangeable SD card or similar...

This is a cool idea and a cool toy for any child who loves music. What I don't understand is why this is the only such toy on the market???

5 out of 5 stars Musical fun for the whole family   October 6, 2008

My son, 13 months, LOVES this music player. I have yet to add any music because he so enjoys the songs and sounds it came with. He loves pushing the large play button and dancing to the songs. I'm looking forward to adding our own music and getting the full use out of this great player.

5 out of 5 stars Best Gift for Little Music Lovers   June 29, 2008
reid's mom (pittsburgh, pa)
This was a gift for my son for his 2nd birthday. He absolutely loves being in control of his music--we primarily use the mp3 downloads in the "favorites" mode of the player so I can't comment on the other modes. He learned how to use the play, skip and back buttons in less than a day, and the "pajamas" nicely hide the volume buttons so the volume stays right where I set it. It seems very durable as he's thrown it on the floor multiple times and nothing has happened. The only tip I can give is to buy rechargeable batteries if you want to leave it on/idle throughout the day (so your little one can do it by themselves without needing you to turn it on each time). Otherwise you'll be replacing them weekly! Overall a great product that can grow with your child for years to come as their music tastes change.
