Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Perfect for fussy infants, the Fisher-Price Rainforest open-top cradle swing moves from side to side or front to back. Surrounded in comfort, baby watches as plush rainforest friends dance in a circle above the chair. Gentle nature sounds and one of 12 different songs will play as baby sits in complete comfort. The songs are either soothing for naptime or more upbeat for playtime. When baby's adventure in the rainforest is over, the swing easily folds up for convenient storage. Stylized for girls or boys, this brightly colored chair has six soothing swing speeds with a plug-in option to save battery space. The two-position reclining seat and infant head pillow keep baby comfortable and the three-point restraint keeps baby secure. This chair requires four LR20 alkaline D batteries (not included) and measures 43 by 36 by 28 inches (HxWxL).

Product Description
Baby takes a relaxing swing (side-to-side or front-to-back) as she watches plush rainforest friends in the mobile above play "peek-a-boo" among the leaves. While baby reclines in comfort, one of 12 different songs play, along with soothing nature sounds. And when baby's trip to the rainforest is over, the mobile swings away...until another day.

Swing includes: six soothing swing speeds (with a plug-in option that can save you money on batteries) two-position reclining seat and 3-point restraint. Folds easily for storage. Requires 4 "D" (LR20) alkaline batteries not included. Measures 43"H x 36"W x 28"L.

4 out of 5 stars Some Improvements, But Missing Some Pros Of Earlier Swings   August 23, 2008
J. Cordes
We bought this swing after the motor on our Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing died. There are some things we prefer about the Rainforest swing, and some things we miss about the Aquarium swing.

PROS:
-AC Adapter! Our 1st kid used her Aquarium swing a lot, and recharging and changing batteries was a pain. Great, great feature that earlier swings SHOULD have had.
-Bright mobile characters, and moving leaves are fun for baby to look at, unlike Aquarium swing's 4 identical fish (but we miss the glowing water globe).
-Open top design (flip up mobile) means it's extra easy to get baby in and out.
-Looks much nicer than previous swing models.
-Most of the songs and sounds are more pleasant to hear than the Aquarium swing's (however, see multiple sound cons below).

CONS:
-No white noise option. Aquarium swing had a crashing waves mode and a steady rain mode. Rainforest swing has a rain mode, but it's punctuated by animal noises. More fun, but not as helpful for keeping a baby asleep while you wrestle a toddler in to pajamas and bed.
-Greensleeves. I understand this is a traditional English folk song and tune, but it's also the tune for Christmas song "What Child Is This?", Very odd to hear year-round.
-No lights on mobile. Aquarium swing had a glowing water globe that changed colors and had floating shapes. Would have been nice to see something like that here.

OVERALL: I'd have a hard time choosing between this and the Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing if the Aquarium swing also came with an AC adapter. The Rainforest swing looks nicer and is easier to use, but I don't think it's quite as good at soothing a baby.

4 out of 5 stars A few minor flaws, but still the best swing out there.   August 12, 2008
BurleysGirl (CA United States)
My son isn't crazy about swings (We've tried a few at friends' houses) but when I catch him in the right mood this is a lifesaver. The music choices are great and not terribly annoying. Being able to switch directions is really handy when he gets bored. And of course, the main reason this is the best swing out there... it plugs in to the wall!

There are a couple of flaws though. First, I had to remove the tray because my son's feet kept getting stuck on top of it when he kicked. Even with the seat belt on he was getting stuck in it. Maybe it will be useful when he's more interested in toys, I don't know. He's only 2 months old now. Second is that it only turns to 90 degrees. I wish it would turn a full 180 simply because the way our living room is set up, I can't turn the swing around to let my son look at the fish tank because it's on the right hand side of the swing and the swing only spins to the left.

5 out of 5 stars Finally one with a plug-in option!!!   August 7, 2008
S. Firth (Sacramento, CA)
I am so glad we have this swing as opposed to any other swing on the market, because we have used it every day for two months, and have yet to put in batteries! It is the only one we found that you can plug in. My baby loves it and it is not noisy at all. I do wish the mobile had some lights or something like the Aquarium version had, but she still enjoys looking at the animals on the mobile anyway. I would recommend it to anyone that plans on using it more than just rarely.

3 out of 5 stars Doesn't sit straight up.   August 4, 2008
A. R. Phillips
I absolutely loved this swing when we first started using it at birth, but as my son got a little older we discovered that you can't sit the back up straight enough. My son is 4 months old now and he wants to sit up, not lay back even slightly. So I give a 3 star.

1 out of 5 stars Tilted to one side   July 22, 2008
Stephen K. Smith
We have an odd problem with our cradle swing that noone else has mentioned. The seat does not hang level from the frame. The seat has two positions: one that allows the baby to rock side to side, and one that allows the baby to rock front to back(the swing always swings side to side: to adjust the direction of the swing for the baby, you rotate the seat 90 degrees, and have the baby face to the left in the swing assembly). When the seat is arranged to rock side to side, the tilt doesn't matter (the baby is simply leaning back more than one would expect). But when the seat is rotated 90 degrees, so that the seat rocks front to back, the seat is tilted at an angle (i.e. the right side of the seat is lower than the left side), and the baby bunches up against the right side of the seat (imagine sitting on a chair that is on a slight hill, or that is angled; you would 'roll' to the low side). I couldn't see any manufacturing flaw, and there is really no way for our assembly to cause this. We'll be returning the swing and finding something else.
