LOOKS pretty, FEELS soft, but don't be fooled by appearances December 26, 2008 J. Mack I had an old Fisher Price bouncer (c. 1999) from my son's baby days that I just thought looked ugly and outdated. When my daughter came along this year I saw this bouncer and liked it because of the different inclines and also it looked so cute, pretty and soft. I got home with it and the thing wouldn't bounce - the motor was dead. I called the store and went in to exchange it. That one bounced, but the mobile motor didn't turn! So then I called the company and they shipped a new one to me and shipping to return mine, but when that one came, AGAIN the motor for the bounce didn't work! So then I figured I didn't even really NEED the bounce function and thought I'd just use it. But an even bigger flaw than the bad electronics on this thing is the placement of the crotch strap and buckles. First, it's positioned TOO HIGH on the seat so that where her body naturally wanted to sit on the seat wasn't in line with the crotch strap, so I would have to hike her up higher and it was just uncomfortable looking. The other problem is the plastic buckle clips that you have to click into place to lock the strap in place were covered by fabric that you had to try to move out of the way to fasten it and it didn't click in and out easily at all - VERY hard to do while also holding the baby. All in all, THE worst purchase I made for my baby. I kept it down by my washing machine in the basement as a place to set my daughter while I quickly threw in some laundry, but ended up disliking it so much that I took it to Goodwill before my daughter was even too old for it. $50 down the drain. We ended up using that old Fisher Price seat, which was SO much better of a bouncer, even if it wasn't soft and pink.
Do NOT buy this product!! October 7, 2008 Amy (EEUU) I ignored negative reviews on this seat and bought it anyway, thinking that possibly the negative reviews were wrong. Unfortunately, the negative reviews were right on!! The seat itself was comfortable and pleasant to look at, but I found it somewhat difficult to put together and musical part broke the FIRST day I had it! If you just want a bouncer seat--fine, if you want it to perform the mechanical functions it purports--forget it! I got another seat that doesn't bounce, but converts into a toddler rocker and had super colorful hanging toys that my baby loved much, much more.
Soft, but tinny January 18, 2007 Nicole Lillie (Portland, OR USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The item is very soft to the touch, the audio features is very "tinny" sounding. Not really an important feature anyways. Not to hard to assemble and the mobile is pretty cool.
Would Not Recommend December 25, 2006 K. Ross (Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered one of these for as a gift for my sister's newborn as a Christmas present. It arrived with pink ink stripes on the right side and none of the electronics worked. Amazon was nice and quick about issuing a replacement, but the 2nd one had the same pink stripes just on the left side and the electronics still didn't work. I will be returning the 2nd and will not purchase any Summer Infant products again. I was embarassed that I gave this as a newborn Christmas present. I noticed a week after I bought this that the price was reduced yet again.
lovely chair, but electronics not good November 6, 2006 H. Jerge 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Nice looking chair. Very soft and very girly. My 2 mo daughter likes the elephant mobile, but the music and mobile aren't working after I changed the batteries. The motor is very sensitive. We had to exchange the first one we bought because the electronics didn't work at all, and now this one seems to be having an issue I haven't been able to fix yet.
