Bathing a newborn is always a frightening prospect for an unseasoned parent. However, this bather's design is well thought out to ease some of the anxiety about giving those first baths. First, the sling-style seat is made of a soft, nylon mesh that conforms to baby's body and reduces the chances of baby slipping down below the tub's water level--a potential hazard that is more likely with a smooth plastic bath seat. While there is a belt on this bather, it is intended to secure the cover to the wire frame, not to hold baby in the seat. For added comfort, the seat has cushioned edges so baby won't get poked by the bather's wire frame during bath time and a removable terrycloth and nylon padded headrest provides additional support for newborns. The backrest offers two positions—reclining for newborns with little head support and a more upright angle for when baby's neck muscles get stronger. This bath seat can be used for newborn babies to until they begin sitting unassisted. It offers a larger frame and supportive base than most to accommodate bigger babies and non-skid feet helps prevent the seat from skidding in the tub. The seat neatly folds for storage or travel and has a machine-washable and mildew-resistant cover for convenience. --Cristina Vaamonde

4 out of 5 stars Great Bather!!   November 22, 2008
Mercedes Johnmeyer (Kingsland, GA)
For my sons first 6 months, I used one of those plastic baby tubs. Well as he got bigger, that just wasn't working out, so I bought this. VERY good purchase. I sooo wish I'd have bought it earlier, it would have made life MUCH easier!

Hands down, my favorite thing about this bather (the reason I bought it really) is it sits high enough that I can rinse ALL the soap off his body, he's not just sitting in a tub of soapy water. Also, it's very sturdy (I have a big boy, very long), and because it's a chair, it's much easier to get to his whole body. Now...I'm not sure I would have used this on a brand-spanking new baby, it seems a little too 'open' for me (the tub with the sling was good for a newborn), but I definitely recommend it for 'older' babies...starting about 2 months or so. You won't need it long though...only till baby's sitting up on his own. But it's a great price, and much less hassle!

Great size and comfortable for baby, but the seat is a little too high, even if you fill the tub up high.

5 out of 5 stars Great Bather   August 20, 2008
Loving Life
I used this bather before baby's umbilical cord fell off, just to help hold the baby while sponge bathing him. He's now 2 weeks and we've used it in the tub with water twice now, and he seems to like sitting in the warm water. It's sturdy & baby doesn't slide around. Highly recommended!

This is great for babies and moms to feel more secure
at bath time. Really a nice product. Makes a great baby
shower gift.

5 out of 5 stars Great infant bather!   July 2, 2008
Elizabeth Guilfoyle (Vermont)
We love this bather! My son HATED his first baths until we started using this after his cord fell off. Now bath time is comfortable, relaxing, and he loves lounging in the sling. I Love that it has an adjustable incline, he doesn't slip in it, it has head support for those first few months, and it folds up to be put away (a very good thing since we live in a small studio apartment.) It is also so easy to just fill up our tub and drain it when we are done. Someone mentioned that it can tip over backwards. This will only begin to happen if you start to place your child in the bather way up towards the top. Don't place your child's bottom up by the headrest and you'll be fine! I think this is a very secure and safe bather.
