4 out of 5 stars Son and Daughter-in-law like this gift!   July 21, 2008
Lois A. Flack (Black River,, NY)
This was purchased to monitor two children sleeping in two different rooms but not for after the parents bedtime. It is being used when the parents want to sit out on the front porch or are in the back yard with friends. It is also used during nap time when the children are up stairs. It is working out great for this.

To be honest this was the only multi room monitor that I could find and most online sites that sold it were out of it. There has to be a lot of customers ordering this item.

POSITIVES:
+ You can hear 2 rooms a once
+ The price was reasonable
+ Very small, compact receiver
+ Sound is clear
+ It is very lightweight
+ Self-recharging (This is a big plus)

NEGATIVES:
- Very cheaply made. I suppose if it were studier it may have been too expensive.
- There really is no volume control. It is loud or louder.
- You can hear background noise which may not always be a negative.
- This apparently does interfere with their wireless computer but my son says it is not a problem. They are usually not using the computer when they are using the monitor.

My daughter-in-law and son have told me they really enjoy having this.

1 out of 5 stars Junk, junk, junk. Might as well throw money out the window!   July 8, 2008

I have gone through 2 of these: the first one didn't work right out of the box. Went thru the trouble of calling the company to exchange it (very efficient customer service - I think Summer Infant must have done this before considering the poor quality of the product), and the new one lasted just a few weeks before running into the same problem. Both times, the parent side of the monitor will not run off of the power cord, only battery power, which lasts only 2 hours before emitting a loud "low battery" alarm. Other cons: the power buttons are not obvious and so your mother or baby sitter won't be able to figure out how to turn it on. The monitors are so flimsy that they won't even stand up on their own, the weight of the cord will pull them over. The sound quality is decent but not great and there is a lot of static. I am not going to bother sending back the second broken monitor because the product is just not worth the trouble, and I have had enough headaches over this stupid thing. I had to go out to the drug store late at night to buy a replacement for this monitor and the cheap-o one I got there has lasted for 9 months now with no problem!

2 out of 5 stars A good idea, but not a great product   July 3, 2008
D. Wise (Berrien Springs, MI)
I have 2-year old twins in separate bedrooms and I have been using this monitor for about 8 months now. The first monitor I ordered, one of the bases stopped working after about 8 weeks (cheap construction). However, the company kindly sent a whole new monitor to me right away. While I can go outside and water plants, get the mail and the monitor does work quite a ways away from the house, the monitor easily falls off any clothing item you attempt to attach it to. Also, the channels drift all the time and it seems I am constantly going into one of the kids rooms to change the channel a couple clicks so I don't have to listen to the annoying buzzing sound. Also, the sound settings is not sensitive enough. Seems like I can never have the sound soft or loud enough when I want it. You have to be sure to turn on the bases after a power outage. Something I know, but my babysitter or husband was not aware of this and didn't realize the bases in the rooms were not working after the power outage, since the monitor continues to flash back and forth between the two colors (green and blue). Well, I would not buy this product again if there were another, better, product on the market.

5 out of 5 stars I don't understand the complaints???   June 18, 2008

So I'll start by saying yes, the lights do flash. It's annoying, but I generally have my eyes closed when I am trying to go to sleep. The beeps are loud when you are pressing buttons, but why would I be touching it at night??

That said, it monitors both of my kids rooms. When they cry I hear it. I know which one is crying based on the light that is flashing. It's completely silent when there isn't a kid screaming. It does EXACTLY what I would expect it to do.

Don't listen to the complaints. It's a third of the price of it's next closest competitor and it does a just fine.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for two children   June 16, 2008

I love this monitor. It is very difficult to find a multiple room monitor. I wish I could have found one with three rooms. Works great!
