 Fails to provide safety August 21, 2008

This gate will not keep your children safe simply because it opens on it's own. Like others people who have reviewed this product our gate opened all the time even in the middle of the night. I'm in the midst of contacting evenflo and strongly suggesting that they recall the product before a child gets badly injured or worse.
Do yourself and your children a favor and stay clear of this gate.

The Evenflo SimpleEffort Plus gate is quick to install with or without the included extensions, sports an attractive color, boasts a clever hands-free design, and I would absolutely award it 5 stars...IF IT WORKED!
To make a long story short, this diabolical item self-activates and swings open every 5-15 minutes. My son waits to hear the loud "click" and crawls to freedom. You'll notice I'm not the only reviewer to cite this problem. (Note: my gate is not installed near a microwave, which I understand might cause electrical interference.) Oh, and the motion-sensing night light doesn't function at all.
You should also know that batteries are not included. It requires 4 C batteries & 1 9V, which add to the overall cost.
I own several other Evenflo gates, all of which I would absolutely recommend. Unfortunately, faulty engineering makes this model a dud.
Kudos to Amazon for making it easy to return!!

we bought this gate to keep our dog in the kitchen when we are not home. The color blends nicely and it was easy to install. We rarely use the remote - it is really easy to do manually, but the kids love the remote - quite a novelty!

I really like this gate. Took a little while to get them setup, properly leveled, still never got one of them leveled, but great gate in the end. I've only had the gate a short while and have had to replace the C batteries in both gates already. Really eats up the batteries. I would recommend these though. Very sturdy and easy to use once you get them setup. I got mine through Amazon at $35 a piece and then used a 25% off coupon. So definitely worth it to me!!

I LOVE, LOVE THIS GATE!!!! I have older children and I wish they had a gate like this when they were little. OMG! Now I have an 8 month old (and he's quick) and so when my other children or my husband or myself need to go thru the gate, it's so easy just one press of the button, we are in or out and we can shut the gate quickly before our little munchkin crawls out.
It also is so handy when your arms are full, you don't have to fool around with unlatching entire gates and then trying to put them back or messing with child proof locks (which most of the time are adult proof too ;p)
Also, this gate is very easy to put up. What can I say if you are looking for a easy, reliable gate, this one is it!
