Gates come apart easily November 17, 2008 J. Leitz (Dallas, TX USA) I have several brand of gates of this sliding variety, and this is the only one where the 2 "sides" come apart from each other entirely. It's as if the metal brackets are not fitted correctly (or not the right size), because depending on how you slide the sides, the 2 pieces come completely off the track. This also happens if someone takes the gate down and stores it on its "side." It works fine and looks fine if you handle with care, but I would not purchase this particular brand again.
Good for Non-flying Ferrets November 6, 2008 C&KinPA My hubby and I bought these gates when we got our first ferret (female) to keep her out of the kitchen and away from the bathroom and bedrooms. It worked great! She couldn't climb it and gave up trying to squeeze through it. We loved that it's translucent so you can see your little creature on the other side and avoid stepping on them when you climb over. However (and this is why it's not a 5 starer) we got a chubby little male ferret a few months later. It worked till he was about 6 months old then he figured out how to leap and hoist himself over and now there's no stopping him. We need something about 3 feet to contain him which unfortunately we can't climb. Wish they made one of these with a mini-door :( If your ferret is little and not a leaper it's a great purchase, our female still can't get over.
A good gate for the price October 21, 2008 Pamela S. Kewley This gate is a good product for the price, and makes a very adequate pet gate for all but the most determined dogs. It is low enough for a person to step over without too much difficulty, although this may also hold true for cats and larger dogs, who can easily jump over it. My only gripe about it is that the wooden slots that are used to adjust the gate width sometimes prevent an exact, tight fit in an individual doorway. This is particularly noticeable in an old house like mine, where the door openings are often less than square. But all in all, it works for me, and I would recommend it to anyone as an inexpensive pet or baby gate.
Handy gate, does the trick August 9, 2008 Gramma (Brooklyn, NY) Great product. Low price and fast, free shipping sold me. Keeps my cats away from the front door and escaping.
love it August 1, 2008 Amber K. Smith this gate stays in place so well. My baby shakes the gate and it doesn't move.
