The Sumer Infant Custom-Fit gate lets you tackle the dilemma of cordoning off unusual openings and areas in your house. Being as much as 12 feet wide or as little as six feet, the Custom-Fit gives you the freedom of blocking staircases or for use in extended openings--think living room. The gate comes with hardware to mount to the walls and a template; all you need is a screwdriver. The locking door swings both directions for easy passage without removing the entire gate-- no more hurdling to save time. The fabric is soft and durable, and the panes are pretty much transparent, so the little ones won't miss any of the action when behind the gate. No bars or metal and wood also reduce the likelihood of injury. --Scott Teal

Awesome gate I have three November 14, 2008 AK Tomboy (Delta Jct., Alaska) I love this gate! I have three like stated above! One to block off a pellet / wood stove. And the other two for when or whatever I need. They can block off the kitchen or be used together and have a huge play yard for horse shows or family visits. Its great! Very easy to install took me less than 30 mins right out of the box. My son and 4 dogs all over a hundred lbs have been quite hard on it and its held up amazing!
Okay if you want a permanent structure October 30, 2008 Michael L. Mickelson (Grygla, MN USA) It is a sturdy bugger and the expandability allowed me to block off my living room from the rest of the house. The main drawback I have with the item is that it has no portability what-so-ever (unless you buy a second unit and attach them together to create a giant playpen). To make this work, screw it into the wall. There's one set of wall mounts so it's not like you can even swing it around to another location. If you want to use this, keep in mind, you are putting 8 screws into your walls and/or woodwork to do it. Other than that, it keeps my powerhouse 1-year-old contained and she even does pull-ups on it (she weighs 22.2 lbs. and is 31.5" tall) w/o a problem.
Great gate! October 22, 2008 Jenn K Love the flexibility for a difficult space - we have it at an odd angle and it works well. Can't attach to a stairwell though but we tied the end bar to the bannister with some strong plastic zip ties and it's very sturdy. Would recommend this gate - love the door feature as well - easy to use with one hand.
Love this gate! October 20, 2008 B. Allott (Central New York, USA) I bought this gate because it is the ONLY gate I could find to fit our very large opening since we have an open floor plan in our ranch house. It's great! The only complaint is that if you don't screw into a stud, you will DEFINITELY need to get your own drywall screws and (sorry I'm not sure what they're called...), but the plastic pieces you put in before the screws. Also, because I have it strait across an area instead of in a corner, it is less stable...meaning when my daughter pushes on it, the gate tends to go forward a bit since the "feet" by the door of the gate are not screwed to the floor! You can't really do anything about it since it's such a wide opening. Not a big deal for me. Holding up great for a few months now. The gate also looks really nice.
Too expensive for the time useful August 21, 2008 J. Sergio (Illinios USA) It is great for a very short amount of time. It was helpful when my daughter was crawling, and kept her in her own space. I was able to block off an entire room with it. But when she was about 17 months, she realized how easy it was to rip off the "breathable" gate, because it is only attached with velcro. It is very frusterating, that we spent so much on it, and went to the great extent of installing it and re arranging our house, for it to work only a few short months. I wouldn't really reccommend anything with velcro!!
