Flimsy and Broke with barely a touch September 10, 2008 mnmom (MN) I have used 4 different kinds of gates and wanted just one more "cheap" one for the kitchen. Upon arrival I lifted it out of the box and it felt very flimsy. Then when I went to put it in the doorway I barely pushed down on the arm and it snapped completely off. I can only think that it must have already been cracked and I just didn't notice. You get what you pay for.
great gate, great deal July 12, 2008 Scott Hall (Los Angeles, CA) We love this gate. We have one-year-old twins, and they push and pull and hang on the gate and it's completely sturdy. I agree with Emma, that I'm guessing the reviewers who gave this gate a bad rating probably didn't install it right. If you put it on the right setting, you can REALLY wedge it into your walls, door frame, etc.
Safety 1st 23 inch wood security gate June 27, 2007 Damaris Torres (Fresh Meadows, NY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The item is good and serves the purpose but it gives you a bit of a hard time to get it set into place. Once it's set though it works great.
I love this gate!!! September 19, 2006 Emma Scott (Charleston, SC) Wow. I came on here to write a 5-star review for this gate and was really surprised to see so many bad reviews. I love this gate. We previously had one from evenflo that had to be readjusted all the time and was really hard to open and close. This one I can open, close, and adjust one-handed while holding my son. It's also not quite as tall as most other gates, so it's easy for a parent to step over it if you don't want to move it. Ours is VERY sturdy and doesn't fall over no matter how hard our kids pull on it. It works with tension, so it's possible other reviewers don't have theirs mounted tight enough.
It's okay only if you have dogs. April 24, 2006 Karen M. Corby (PA, USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
It is very hard to lock and more recommended for dogs than babys. It also falls easily. Don't buy it unless you want your babys to run away.
