We love this gate! November 18, 2008 K. Berry (CT) We have this gate installed at the top of our stairs and love it. We've been using it for 4 months now. It is easy to open, but would be very difficult for a child to open. It took my husband less than 30 minutes to install. It is made of metal and seems very sturdy. I especially like that I can "slam" it shut if I want, I don't have to stand there and close it. The only complaint I have, but it wasn't worth returning it for a new one, is that the light on ours doesn't work. We found that we haven't missed it though. We bought this gate for the safety and the look of it.
This gate is wonderful November 17, 2008 Michael Dekker (Allyn, WA) This gate is perfect for our family. We have a split entry house, and we use it at the top of the stairs. The gate is very easy for adults to use, but our toddler isn't strong enough to use the gate alone, in our case this is a very good thing. The gate latches very easily and sucurely. The motion sencing night light is just an added bonus. We have no complaints at all, and would reccomend this gate to anyone. Note: the gate does require being screwed into the wall, and does leave holes.
Great gate October 20, 2008 D. Banta (TX) I love this gate. I read the directions, installed it alone, used extra long drywall screws per another reviewer's suggestion, and over a year later, we still have a sturdy gate to keep our active toddler downstairs. See the picture I posted of my installed gate. It's the only gate I could find which would work with our tall baseboards without adding extra boards or hardware. I chose to use a 2x4 cable-tied to the banister to avoid drilling holes in it. Because of this, the gate wobbles a little, but has never come open accidentally or failed to close properly. Our guests, usually older ones, tend to have trouble with the handle, but trust me, you'll get the hang of it, as you would have to do with any new gate. They can't make it too easy to open or the kids could do it and defeat the purpose.
CAUTION! September 28, 2008 A. Delprete (brooklyn, ny United States) We bought this gate and loved it until last Sunday my 18 month old had his pinky fingertip severed off from this gate. He was coming up the stairs and his older brother wung it open from the top and the little guy had his pinky in the space between the gate and the wall(not the side that opens) and the pressure took it right off. Please beware and be careful.
Great Gate!!! September 18, 2008 s.e.b (mid-west) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This baby gate is the best! My father-in-law installed it for us and it only took him 40 minutes to put it up(not 2 hours like some other reviews have posted) We LOVE the light..it is a nice extra feature! My baby and I have so much more fun upstairs now that we have this gate up...it feels good to know our baby is safe! I would recommend this gate...it's well made and looks nice! There are a lot of baby gates out there and I've read a lot of reviews and this was the one I picked...I'm glad I did!
