Product Description Imported from Denmark, this stylish Safeway Gates is ideal for stairways, halls, entryways or any high traffic location. Made of WHITE, plastic coated metal, it has a door that swings in either direction and a latch that's easy one handed operation. It is VERY easy to completely remove for special occasions.
Editorial Review Although many pressure-mounted gates can provide a good barrier for kids, the safest and most reliable way to block their access to a room or stairwell is with a gate that mounts on a wall. Attaching directly to a wall or stairwell banister, this Safeway Gate combines sturdy steel construction with a simple design that makes it easy for an adult to open the gate with one hand. It takes a bit of work to assemble and mount the gate, but the included illustrated instructions for installation are clear and a total list of parts has also been included so that you can do an inventory before starting an installation. Measuring 30.5 inches tall, the gate can expand from 24.75 to 43.5 inches wide, and you can add an optional 24-inch extension (sold separately) to increase the width to 66 inches. --Chris Burns

The G20 is flexible enough to install at the top or bottom of stairs, or in doorways. View larger. | Safety experts strongly recommend that the top of stairways be blocked by a permanently mounted gate -- rather than a pressure-mounted model -- for maximum protection. The KidCo Safeway G20 Gate offers both permanent mounting and an exclusive, unidirectional feature that keeps the gate from opening out over the stairs. It fits openings from 24-3/4 inches to 43-1/2 inches wide. If your doorway is wider, you can purchase an extension to accommodate openings 43-1/2 to 66 inches wide. And when you need to get the gate out of the way, it easily releases from the wall-mounted hardware. High Quality and Thoughtful Craftsmanship With the KidCo ConfigureGate, form follows function. It meets or exceeds US Child Safety Standards, providing the maximum protection for your child, and with its Scandinavian-inspired design, the gate's clean-lined, minimalist style will blend handsomely into any décor. Like all KidCo gates, the ConfigureGate is constructed with fine, high-quality materials, including thicker virgin steel and certified non-toxic paint. The European factories are ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 certified.

Faulty template included November 2, 2008 Harriet G. Genberg (Gaylord, MI USA) Instructions OK except that the template for making the holes in the wall did not correspond to the actual distance needed for the holes to fit the gate. Disregard the template and measure the distance to get the holes in the correct places. The gate is easy to remove, when not needed, and easy to handle when installed.
Buy new screws October 21, 2008 R. Hare (Northumberland, PA) I am still in the process of putting this gate up. I live in an older farm home and unfortunately the top of the steps are not even. The pattern didn't work and I need to re-align the gate to make it work. I was surprised that when receiving the gate it had rust marks on it. I am hoping with some cleaner it will clean up. It is not bad, but it is brand new!!! Also, I had 3 of the 8 wood screws heads break off while trying to put them on with my small hand drill. I was surprised they would break off that easily!!! I went to a local hardware store and purchased new ones. Alot of the reviews were correct in saying that you need to read directions first!!! I consider myself "handy", but you really need to read the directions and look at the pictures carefully. Once I have this gate on I will probably be happy with it, but the couple problems which I have encountered are very surprising!
Great gate October 13, 2008 C. Dunavan With the included templates this gate was easier to install than the wood one I had previously. It is secure and the lock is easy to use. I would buy it again. Only downside is the silver hardware with a black gate looks out of place.
Love it! Buying two more. September 27, 2008 Christine Hargrove (North Reading, MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We love this safety gate! We have tried a bunch at others' houses, even top brands, but they were all hard to use and ugly. This one is easy to open and shut with one hand, and my husband said it was really easy to install--only 20 minutes with a drill. All the young children (<5) we have had over for visits (probably 15-20 by now) have not been able to work the gate, even after they understand how it is done. The railings are thin, which means it blends in to our house so much that people don't even notice it until they need to use the stairs. My daughter and even some 40lb children have rattled and leaned on it, but it didn't cause any problem at all. Also, the damage to the wall where the screws go in is really minor--we'll be able to patch it up easily when we're finished. We knew we needed permanent gates because our two stairways are fairly steep, but we didn't want huge ugly gates marring our main entry. We also needed gates that would last and take a beating, because we know we'll have more kids. We found the perfect solution with this safety gate!
.gate review August 15, 2008 Lori (Clarksville, TN) Directions did not come in the box, so I had to print them off the internet. Directions were somewhat confusing. Gate is not really easy to open with one hand. I have this gate to blocks steps on my deck. It serves its purpose.
