Wish it would stick! November 23, 2008 M. Blair (San Diego, CA) Well, maybe I was expecting too much. The real problem is that the tiles in the shower for this use are not smooth, but have a slight ripple texture to them. Unfortunately, it was just enough to cause the suction to fail. My husband doesn't want to use a permanently installed handle. So, problem not solved as hoped.
It did what was needed. November 3, 2008 L. Yeaton I bought this product to use in my stairwell to help my mother, who has trouble climbing stairs without railings, get safely up and down the stairs. I used it on wallpaper. It would hold for about 10 minutes, which was enough time to give the balance help that was needed. While this was an unusual use for this handle it did its job. After about 10 minutes it would pop off the wall. I am sure that was due to it being on wallpaper which is not completely smooth. It does what I asked it to do, just use it for balance not for full body weight support.
Bath & Shower Handle November 2, 2008 V. Komrow (Florida) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have this handle in our guest bath and have not had a problem with it coming loose or falling off. I did measure the area where I wanted it carefully, so that the suction cups would fit on a full tile and not in a grout area. Because I had read bad reviews about this or similar handles, I occasionally check it when I am in that room....No problems, it always holds firm. Great Product!
Pluses and Minuses Versus "Health Circle Quick-Rail Suction Cup Bath Rail" July 11, 2008 ReviewerWhoPrefersToBeAnonymous (California) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have 4 inch tiles in my shower, and so can't use products like the Bridge Medical Single Grip Portable Grab Bar. Instead, I bought this product and compared it with Health Circle Quick-Rail Suction Cup Bath Rail, White, 20" Long. The official title on the box is "MHI Safe-er-Grip Bathtub & Shower Handle 17 Inches Long." The UPC code on the box is 3676810255, and "10255" is repeated four times on the box as though it's the model number. The UPC code was covered by a sticker "X000097Q6N Mommy's Helper Extra-Long Safer Grip." The outside of the box gives illustrated instructions, and a piece of paper inside gives instructions in English. Nowhere is there advice such as "for non-porous surfaces only," "clean and dry the surface before attaching," "avoid grout lines, " etc. The unit itself is smooth all over and is attractively designed, with a graceful curve. The top part is off-white, with green levers. The bottom part is greenish-gray. There's a warning sticker ("..balance assist only...") and raised letters ("CONFIRM ATTACHMENT BEFORE USE...") in small print on the underside of the handle. I measured the length to be 16-1/2" and the distance between the centers of the 3-7/8" suction cups to be 12-1/2". Because of the 4" tiles, the only way I could mount the bar and avoid grout lines was diagonally at 45 degrees to the floor (two tiles to the side and two tiles up). When the suction cups were activated, I couldn't pull the item off the wall horizontally (didn't try to put all my weight on it). Overall, the product seems sound. Advantages compared with the Health Circle product: more attractive, less expensive, shorter (if you want to take it on a trip). Disadvantages: Instructions aren't as good, and its lack of ribs may make it feel more slippery to some people. Buy this from Amazon.com!
very useful June 23, 2008 Joyce Ann Jacobs (Jersey Girl) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have two of these now. I bought my husband one when he came home from rehap recently and he liked it so much that he ordered a second one. He uses them to steady himself in the shower. I don't believe you can put much weight on them but for balance they are very useful.
