Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Safety 1st Sure Fit Toilet lock is updated and customized to fit perfectly in today's bathrooms. Featuring an easy-to-use design, the lock utilizes suction cups and is positioned on the toilet tank behind the lid. It does not come into contact with the bowl and is easy to remove and clean. Lock features a spring-back mechanism so the lock automatically slides back in place after lid is shut -- a design that is child-proof while remaining simple for parents to use.

1 out of 5 stars Lawsuit Waiting to Happen - BAD product   September 19, 2008
Zachary Swire (Southern California)
I'm absolutely surprised this product is still on the market. It simply does not work. For a company that prides itself on child safety products, you'd think testing was involved. And, you'd think they'd remove this product from the shelves when people complain and they learn it's no good and a safety hazard.

We bought two in hopes of a simpler toilet lock. After many attempts at getting it to stick for more than 5 minutes, nothing worked. Bad design, poor product testing and unbelievably bad executive management decisions not to pull this product off the shelves.

It just doesn't work. Don't waste your money.

Hopefully Safety 1st will smarten up and recall this product. It's bad PR and bad business to keep selling this product.

2 out of 5 stars DON'T TRUST THIS DEVICE TO STAY PUT   August 17, 2008
moandaa (Twin Cities, MN)
I have had four of the Sure Fit Toilet Locks for about 3 years. They work well when they stick to the water tank, but they fall off frequently. The suction cups for mounting to the tank do not hold the device in place for very long. Sometimes they come off during use - mostly when opening. Our children pull them off as well. Unfortunately, I usually find the device on top of the toilet or in the closet. My 8-month old pulls himself up by the lip of the toilet, so we have to be very vigilant that he doesn't fall in head first. Lastly, the spring loaded hinge does not consistently return the lock to the safe position (as it is designed to do) after the seat lid is closed.

1 out of 5 stars Mine was defective   August 16, 2008
B. Toothman (Louisiana, United States)
Latch would not close automatically. I worked with it a long time before giving up. A piece of junk.

1 out of 5 stars The reviews are accurate   August 9, 2008
D. Clarke (Chicago, IL USA)
Like others here, this wouldn't stick on our toilet for more than 5 minutes. It's probably the worst toilet lock on the market. Don't bother even trying it.

1 out of 5 stars I can't rate this low enough   August 3, 2008
Little Lady (St. Petersburg, FL United States)
What a waste of money! I can not believe that they are allowed to sell a product that doesn't work at all! The suction cups don't stay on at all. I can only imagine the lawsuit coming when someone's child drowns in the toilet because of such false advertising regarding this product.

Don't buy this product and expect it to work, because IT WON'T
