5 out of 5 stars Did what we needed for.   November 24, 2008
Amy Holgersen (Orlando, FL)
We purchased this item a year ago for a trip to South Africa. It worked great for us since we were taking the seat on the plane. But the big thing for us was at security having to take it off to go through the scanner was a big pain. The other issue we had was when we had to make a connection, having to stop to put it back together before running across the airport was not ideal. The only time my daughter sat in it was on the way home standing in line to check-in, which we ended up checking the whole thing on the way home since she never sat in the carseat on the plane either.

We did get a lot of questions about it, and my husband did feel bad for all those dads we saw carrying carseats through the airport. But in the long run we decided it was not needed for our travels since our daughter perfers to sit in the seat. Ended up selling it on Ebay!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant gadget.   September 2, 2008
Cousin It
I've just returned from a month in the UK. I bought this after reading the reviews because I couldn't see how I would be able to manage both a car seat and a stroller. My son is too heavy to just have on my lap for 7 and a half hours, so he had a booked seat. We actually travelled first class (not something we normally do, it was a treat from my mum) and the Travelmate just fit between the seats to go down the aisle. It clearly wouldn't fit down the aisle of economy section, but most airlines will help carry the seat for you if you need them to. I took the wheels off (which takes seconds to do) and stored them overhead although in first class it would have fitted in the seat with them on. I kept the travelmate on the car seat for the entire time I was in the UK as with our Alpha Omega Elite Seat you can fit the seat in cars facing either way with the Travelmate on. I cannot praise this wonderful peice of kit enough, it made my trip home so much easier and will definitely be getting used again and again until my son is able to walk and hold an adults hand without having a tantrum! It was not hard to fit, took about 20 minutes the first time, and then about 5 minutes after that, its really easy. I didn't have to take it off to go through the x-ray machines either.

4 out of 5 stars This worked great!   August 19, 2008
Stephanie (Scottsdale, AZ United States)
We recently took a trip from Phoenix to Washington DC with a layover in Texas. We needed to take our Britax Roundabout car seat because we were not renting a car in DC and needed a car seat for the shuttle and taxicabs. This item allowed us to take the car seat with ease and no fuss. We practiced attaching the cart to our seat the night before the trip and I am glad we did. The directions are not very clear and it took us some time to decipher them. Once we figured it out, my husband was able to attach and detach our car seat without any help from me.

At the airport, we simply asked security for a hand-check so that we dd not have to put it through the X-ray machine and they had no problem with this. We did take the wheels off on the plane but the cart fit nicely under the seat in front of us. We had enough time once the plane landed and we waited for our row to exit to reattach the wheels before it was our turn to exit the plane. We had a lot of travelers stop us to ask us about the go go kidz since they were also looking for a solution to traveling with car seats.

In DC, we loved the ease of using our car seat as a stroller. It allowed us to wheel our son onto the metro, ride to our destination and even have his car seat in Taxicabs when we needed it. The wheels stayed on the seat in all of our taxi and shuttle rides. It was awesome.

I did not give it 5 stars as I think there is room for improvement (better directions, more stability) but over all I would highly recommend this product for travels with Toddlers!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE this thing   August 3, 2008
A. Merwin (Geneva, Switzerland)
We flew from Switzerland to Oregon and this thing was amazing. Our carseat (Maxi Cosi) hooked right onto it and we strolled our 2-year-old around all 3 airports (including the layover). On the first flight, we left the thing on the carseat which works fine but left his feet in perfect kicking position for the seat in front of him. For the long flight, we took the thing off (very easy to do right in the seat) and he was a little farther back. He thought it was fun to be in there and we used it instead of a stroller. It was too large to roll down the aisle so my husband carried it while I carried our son. I definitely recommend it. Best of luck!
