really great infinat seat/carrier June 16, 2008 Art Logan-condon (Albuquerque, NM USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
extremely well made. clicks into both the car seat base and stroller by Quinny very easily. The only down side is the sunshade is a bit too short to really shade the baby. But, this is one fine car seat!
Finally available in America!! September 15, 2007 Rebecca Meryhew (Provo, UT USA) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
After being rear ended, I had to quickly find a new infant car seat to replace my Britax Companion. The Britax was nice, but not everything I had hoped for--so I got online and began researching the available options. I was excited to see that the Maxi Cosi infant car seat just became available in the United States this month. For years the Maxi Cosi seats have been all the rave across Europe. The car seats are tested at higher speeds in Europe (there is no speed limit on the Autobahn!!) and although I was unable to find much safety rating information on this seat because it is so new to the market here, I am confident that it exceeds the safety of many of the American car seats currently available to us. These car seats come in several beautiful colors and patterns. The fabric is soft and plush and there is ample padding to craddle my baby; He has fallen asleep in it right away each time we get in the car. I also like that the carrying handle slants back near the top, so I am able to get my baby in without readjusting the handle. In addition, near the baby's head the car seat narrows and has energy absorbing foam (like that found in bike helmets) surrounding that area which adds to the safety of the child in the case of a side impact collision. The chest buckle snaps closed and is easy to do/undo with just one hand. The bottom buckles of the five-point harness must be put together in a "puzzle" before being inserted. It is a little tricky (and I admit I am still getting used to it), but I feel it is an added safety measure to ensure both sides of the harness are securely in place. There is an audible snap so I know the buckles are locked and engaged into place. This seat comes with a base which makes it easy to snap the seat into the car and take it out more quickly. When installing it without the base, you simply slide the seatbelt in the designated slits on the car seat running the belt across the baby's lap. I especially like that the car seat has a place on the back (opposite side of the baby's head) to loop the seat belt behind to make the seat more secure when installed without the base. I have not seen this option on many other car seats. I also like that the car seat is not covered with safety warning stickers. I think it looked tacky when the stickers began to peel on my old car seat and I am glad that won't be a problem with this one. There are so many good things to say about this car seat! I love the way it looks, the convenient features it offers, and the safety it provides my child. If I had to make an improvement on this seat, I would like the sun canopy to rotate and provide sun protection from any angle (like on the Graco and Britax infant seats). But this is such a small thing and it's easy to just drape a blanket across the sun canopy to keep the sun off his face.
