Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Belt positioning boosters are the biggest advancement in child safety in years. Automobile seat belts are designed for children above 57" tall. The First Years Compass B510 Booster Car Seat has a five-star Ease of Use rating. The First Years Compass B510 Booster Car Seat was one of only two high back booster seats to receive five stars and the only seat to receive five stars in every category to date under the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) new Ease of Use rating system. Safety advocates suggest that your child ride in a booster as long as possible. Most states have enacted legislation to keep children in boosters until ages 6 to 8 years.

But, what it takes to keep an older child content is not the same as baby. This is an age when children are busy in activities and moms, dads and grandparents are all involved in dropping off and picking up the children. The Compass Deluxe Folding Booster Car Seat provides the answers for both you and your child.

The patented folding features take moving the seat from car to car and storing in the trunk to a new level of convenience. It's not just for travel, it is a seat that fits your daily lifestyle. Deluxe padding will keep your child comfortable and content, even on long trips. Rotating arm rests make installation easier because the belt path is clear. The rotating arm rests also improve the ease of use because children have an easier time crawling in and out by themselves.

The back support stays fully enclosed as the height is adjusted. This means side support and protection in every position. The head rest has a full EPS foam (bicycle helmet foam) liner to absorb energy in an impact. And the deeper side wings provide additional protection for your child. The six-position height adjust will grow with your child.

Features:

  • Narrow bottom rails allow the seat to fit into sculpted bucket seats even in small cars
  • Taller, higher belt path (2") to

5 out of 5 stars Love love love this seat   November 17, 2008
D. M. Caddeo (Millersville, MD United States)
I bought two seats like this for my two kids (at the time ages were 3.5 and 5) and I love them. What's great is that the base for these is a bit smaller than typical booster seats, which has made them easier to strap into the 3rd row of my Honda Pilot, which does not accomodate regular booster seats nearly as well. These are very comfy and the covers remove easily to throw into the washer and dryer for cleaning. I also love that I can easily fold them in half and put them behind the back seats of my Pilot for storage when I don't need them. I think my only complaint would be I'd love for the cupholders to remove so I could easily clean them. Maybe they do...but I've not figured out how yet!

4 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons   October 15, 2008

This seat is attractive, lightweight, and easy to handle; overall we like it and feel it is a good value. The placement of the shoulder belt was a bit confusing at first because we didn't realize the head piece and back piece were separate (which allows the belt to slip between the two near the top of the seat.) Also, since we were used to a harness system, we simply didn't think about the fact that we'd lose the use of one adult seat in the back (this seat cannot be situated in the center of the back seat because it uses a shoulder belt.) Lastly, when our son falls asleep in it, his head has a tendency to bounce and his body slouches; perhaps this is because he just meets the minimum height/weight requirements.

I would highly recommend this product to keeping your little one safe.
My grandson loves his booster seat. Easy to use, good quality material on the seat, folds very easy and portable. I purchased two of these seats, one for my car and one for my daughter's car.

3 out of 5 stars Nice carseat, but......   July 25, 2008

I recently bought 2 of these carseats, but was surprised to see that the back does NOT disconnect from the seat. I purchased these because I thought the back would be a nice option for long trips, but could detach the back and use just the base for everyday. Not so. It doesn't disconnect (like the Graco brand).
Has a nice option to raise & lower the back to adjust the the height of your child. Nice material, moving armrests, 2 drink holders, etc.
Just didn't work for me.

5 out of 5 stars We like it   July 17, 2008

We bought the Compass deluxe folding booster seat about 2 months ago and so far we love it. I would have loved to find a booster that still has the 5 point harness, but the ones we have tried have not worked in our car (older model Saturn sedan). So we got this one based on safety reviews and the similarity in style to another booster we have that fits well in our car. With this seat, my 4.5 year old son can buckle himself in and release by himself (which makes him feel very important). The seat fits very well in our car plus it is very easy to move from one car to another. It seems comfortable and sturdy and easy to adust and install. Granted I have only had it a few months, but so far we like it a lot.
