Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
With its warm wood and versatile design, the Classic Wood Highchair is one baby item you'll use for years, even generations. First, it's a beautifully built, classic highchair with modern conveniences like a cushioned, wipe clean seat pad, 3-point harness, and a clear, dishwasher-safe, pull-out tray insert that shows off and protects the wood finish.

Then, as Baby grows, take off the seat pad and switch to the smaller snack tray, and you?ve got the perfect toddler chair. Later, lose the tray, and older kids can use it to comfortably reach the dinner table or do homework on the kitchen counter. Finely crafted of eco-friendly poplar, the Classic Wood Highchair will last and be useful for years.

4 out of 5 stars Impressed!   November 4, 2008
R. Hassmiller (battle mtn, NV)
I was pleasantly surprised by this chair! Its a beauty, with touches of craftsmanship that make it seem well built. I like the way it supports my 7 month old and teaches her to sit up straight! The tray comes off with ease and you can even take it off one handed. The seat cover has been easy to wipe clean as with the tray. Baby did put a few small dents into arms of chair- by banging her plastic rattle around, but we've solved that by just not giving her 'hard' toys to play with while sitting. Chair was easy to put together and as I said I was really impressed with how nice this chair looks- I have no doubt that it will last a long time. Highly recommend this chair to parents are looking for something unique and Not Plastic!!

3 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings   October 14, 2008
a grandmother

Pros:
1)This is a very sturdy wooden high chair that is a breeze to assemble.
The back is curved and my 1 year old grandson seems more comfortable in it than in his straight back chair at home. It is also a very attractive chair.

2)The seat cushion actually is prettier than it looks in the picture. The cushion ties snap on and just look like they are tied. I have not washed it yet but small spills wipe off easily. The harness removes easily for washing also.

3)The plastic cover on the tray is nice and snaps on securely enough without being hard to remove. Even though it says safe for dishwasher, I just wash by hand. It wipes down easily. I think the dishwasher might warp it and cause it not to fit well. If you want to use the tray without the plastic cover you may want to add a layer of clear coat. I don't know if the tray's wood finish would hold up to repeated washings.

Cons:
1) My biggest complaint was the bar in the center between the child's legs. The design is all wrong and it is not adjustable. It goes too far back in the seat. We drilled out the screw covers to remove it but when we pried it off we didn't realize it was also glued and ended up peeling off a thin layer of wood and finish. We had to use wood filler. Since the bar is attached to the underside of the snack tray it doesn't show.

2)I also had to deduct a star because I feel that the following description was deceptive.

# Converts to a toddler chair then kids chair for years of use
# With tray off, chair is the right height for a toddler to reach the dinner table
# Later on, chair becomes an extra seat for the whole family.

I have 2 standard height tables and this chair will not push up to either table with enough space for the child's legs to fit under the table. Not even for a one year old. Certainly not for an older child. It would maybe work for a breakfast bar - which I do not have. It is tall like a barstool and not adjustable. Forget the nonsense about an extra seat for the whole family. It is not that big. It is a for a baby's use and only that. If that is what you want then this will not bother you.

Summary:
This is a overall a well made high chair that will stand up for many, many years of use. It is worth the price, just don't expect anything but a high chair.

5 out of 5 stars My friends are all jealous   September 13, 2008
snowqueen (Jackson, WY United States)
My mother-in-law bought us this highchair for our baby that is due in October 2008. I haven't used this highchair yet myself, but have had friends with little ones over for meals and have even leant it out for a week to some friends with a one year old that were visiting in town. Everyone is raving about how much they like it. Not only does it look great and blend in with most decors, my friends say they like how easy it is to use. One friend commented on how much she likes that you can take the tray off and still have the baby in the chair secured by the wooden piece that goes through their legs. The plastic tray insert is easy to clean and the chair seems really sturdy.

I am excited that it has passed the baby-use test and love how it looks in our dinning room. I really wanted to avoid those big, bulky plastic highchairs you see everywhere. I highly recommend this one!

4 out of 5 stars Great looking and sturdy - not always ideal   August 18, 2008

It's a very nice looking wooden highchair and sturdy. It doesn't take up an excess of room and is very easy to put together. There's few aspects I wish were different. One is being able to take of the tray with one hand, but that might not be compatible with a wooden high chair unless it has a plastic tray. Also I think it would be nice if the back was angled back or reclined back a little. Not adjustable, just make it a little more relaxed instead of a rigid 90 degree sitting postion. I really think about it when I give my little girl a drink. It makes it a little difficult to dump her head back comfortably. Lastly, the bar between the legs is curved in way too far. It works alright, but when you buckle your baby in the clasp is tight against the post and scratches it up. It's working great for me and as far as I can tell my daughter likes it. If you're considering a wooden high chair I would leave it a possibility.

5 out of 5 stars I love this highchair!   June 29, 2008
USAF Wife (Georgia)
This is an excellent highchair for an excellent price. We paid less here than other stores and sites were selling it for. My 10 mos old loves it and so do I. The seat is well padded and completely machine washable. The plastic tray cover is very convenient for cleaning and I love that it's clear so the beauty of the wood tray shows through. The only down side that I've found is not having wheels. That would be a personal preference though. If you can live without wheels and you love the natural beauty of wood then this is the chair for you.
