4 out of 5 stars Good product but consider APNO for really sore nipples   September 17, 2008
Tar Heel (Greenville, NC)
I used hydrogels (not this particular brand but some made by Kendall through my hospital) to relieve nipple pain. Right out of the freezer, they provide instant relief. With my second son, though, I had a persistent crack in one nipple that Lansinoh and hydrogels did not help. If you are in this situation, consider asking your doctor for a prescription for All Purpose Nipple Ointment (APNO), a compounded medicine available from your pharmacist that contains pain reliever, antifungal, and steroid. The APNO is the only thing that helped me heal the stubborn crack.

5 out of 5 stars best breast therapy - period!   July 24, 2008

I was given these while my son was in the NICU and I was having to pump constantly to build a supply. They were BY FAR the most relieving thing I found. I tried the Gerber, Medela and Platex gel pads and they just didn't cut it. The great thing about the Ameda hydrogels is that you can keep using them over and over and over. I used the first set for about a week and just kept them covered in the fridge when not in use.
I bought a couple more packs of these when my son was teething to relieve my discomfort from the process and would (and do) highly highly recommend them to new moms and moms having discomfort. They aren't messy like the platex ones and aren't sticky like the Gerber and Medela ones and they last at least 4-5 times longer than the others.

5 out of 5 stars I don't know what I'd do without them!   July 2, 2008
C Jackson (Central Illinios)
I am a mother of a 4 1/2 year old and a 5 day old. With my oldest, I didn't know about these and suffered through the pain the first couple of weeks breastfeeding. Thank God I have these now! The pads are wonderful and the cooling effect is a life saver for sore nipples. I highly recommend these pads to all breastfeeding mommies out there.

5 out of 5 stars Life Savior for sore nipples   May 5, 2008
S. Reichert (MN)
I received these at the hospital after having my baby and needed another pair after they wore out. So I looked online to see how I could get some more. I'm not sure how these work, but my nipples were very sore, cracked, bloody, etc. and these pads healed them right away. I was just about ready to give up, but decided to get more of these pads and after 2 weeks of using them, the nipples were fine and nursing was going great. I tried the playtex nipple shields and they did not work at all. They were very sticky and I could barely get them off the backs and they were very difficult to put on the nipples. I ended up trying them while waiting for these to arrive because the playtex brand was sold at target. I would recommend these for sure if you are having any problems with sore nipples.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful-must have for nursing moms   March 12, 2008
R. Lyon (Colorado)
I bought these before the birth of our child based on the other reviews I've read. Our baby has trouble nursing in a way that was very uncomfortable. I used these for the first 2 weeks, and I don't want to even think about how much more miserable I would have been had I not purchased them. I've pretty much gone to pumping only now, but I do try to nurse some, so I'll definetley be purchasing more.
