The cover is soft and washable. The three inflatable chambers make it safe for the baby. I, too, have it sitting atop a regular dresser, and although it's not advertised as such, it doesn't slip and slide around at all. This is the best price I've found for this type of changing pad, and it would easily deflate and pack up for a trip, which is handy also.

I really liked this changing pad for the short time I was able to use it. After a month or so of use a hole developed along one of the seams. I requested that Target replace it but because we had purchased the pad in advance to having our son, Target said that their 90 replacement policy wouldn't warrant a replacement. The pad works well if you are lucky enough to get one made with strong vinyl seams.

Nice pad to take on trips (easily deflates), plus since the purchase includes a cover this is a pretty good deal as most pads come sans cover at around the same price.

This pad works very well on top of the dresser. We didn't want to buy a changing table and this made for a great alternative.
