Reliable and easy to use August 30, 2008 Kimberly A. Waterman (California, USA) This monitor seems to have it all - and then some. The parent unit is portable, and I like the volume and sensitivity settings. We've used the temperature gauge often to verify that our baby's bedroom is a comfortable (and safe) temperature for sleeping. Some of the additional features have so far been useless to us - the ability to turn on the glow light in the child's room, and the ability to play a lullabye remotely... though they're neat ideas they never really come into play. Still, it's a reliable unit, easy to use, highly portable, and I'd recommend it to anybody.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY August 11, 2008 C. E. Jahn (Arkansas (UGH)) This monitor has some of the coolest features that could EVER be on a baby monitor. . .telling you the temp in your baby's room, 2 way, being able to control sound and music from your unit to your baby's unit, etc. BUT IF YOU CANT HEAR WHAT YOUR BABY IS DOING, HOW CAN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU NEED TO CONTROL?? The parent unit, no matter what you change, is so quiet that you can BARELY hear your child. That made this baby monitor not worth the money, fix that one problem, and it would be worth every penny!
No interference August 7, 2008 Rick Pare (Maine, USA) We bought this item to replace another digital monitor that could not maintain a connection over a short distance. This monitor has no problem connecting and the audio is absolutely clear and interference-free. We do have a wireless network and multiple wireless phones, and none affected this monitor.
Charging Issue.... July 30, 2008 V. ongtenco 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
i think there is a known issue with this product. I thought that maybe only a person or two may have a unit that's not fully functioning but mine is also having that "not charging" issue. I charged mine as per the manual's specified time and the portable unit died in less than 5mins. I've tried 3 or 4 times since then, each time doing the 16hrs charge time without luck. I would like to return the product but i have since shipped it out of the country. I called Philips and they told me that the warranty is void once it leaves the country. huh?! anyway, they will still help me but now i would need to ship the whole unit to them since they are a pair....which is going to cost a whole lot since I'm halfway across the world. watch out when buying this baby monitor. it seems like a good quality monitor and the sound is clear, however you run the risk of getting a non-functioning one. btw, i went and charge the batteries in a sony charger and the system worked but that would mean removing the battery each time since it would only last around 9 hrs each charge. i wish i can just fix whatever it is they screwed up when they were manufacturing this. obviously there is an issue 'coz i'm not the only one. read the other reviews out there and you'll find out. you've been warned.
Great! July 17, 2008 A. L. Howe (UK) I bought this monitor for my daughter, who had just given birth. I was wondering if she would have preferred a video monitor but then she told me that she was glad I hadn't got her one as there are privacy issues with video monitors. She absolutely loves it. It is very sensitive to sound, has a good range, remote lullabies, a star-show night-light and a microphone on the portable parents' unit to sooth the baby. She is very pleased and I am happy I made the right choice. They've had a slew of presents but she rates this monitor as the most indispensable.
