Amazon.com Product Description
Created by parents who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available, the iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle seat was made to offer families the best biking experience possible in safety and comfort. This front mounted seat offers both parent and child excellent range of vision, with the opportunity to interact as they bike together. Noted for its ease of use, the seat takes just a few minutes to install and remove, and it is equally easy and safe to load and unload the child from the seat. Providing plenty of clearance for the knees so that the adult can bike with ease, the seat is positioned so that it is easy to maintain the center of gravity. This adaptable seat fits any adult bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches of clearance on the handlebar stem.

The iBert Safe-T seat was developed after its creators became frustrated with the available bike seat options for children. They found that bike trailers kept their kids uncomfortably far away from them, got too hot in the sun, and only provided a limited view out to the children. The rear-mounted seats presented similar problems. The kids had a limited view and it was difficult to interact with them. Additionally, the balance of the bike was off and it was not easy to load and unload the kids. Other front mounted seats were complicated to hook onto the bike and difficult to remove. These seats also did not allow knee clearance for biking, and as a result were not comfortable.

The iBert Safe-T seat offers a variety of safety and comfort advantages compared to other child bike seat options. The iBert Safe-T seat allows you to maintain control of the bike when loading and unloading your child. To load and unload the child, you simply straddle the bike and lift the child into or out of the seat. When using the iBert seat you can always see what your child is doing and you can make sure that your child is safe and comfortable at all times. The center of gravity in the iBert seat is closer to the center of the bike making it easier to control the bike as you ride. The seat sits higher on the bike and is smooth on the bottom so that even tall riders rarely brush the bottom of the seat with their knees and if they do they just glide along the smooth edges on the bottom.

The iBert Safe-T seat is easy to install. The patented stinger assembly attaches to any bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches on the handle bar stem. The stinger system attaches to the bike in just two minutes and the seat can then be attached and detached from the stinger in 15 seconds. If you buy additional stinger assemblies the seat can be attached to multiple bikes.

The iBert Safe-T seat is made in the U.S.A. with safety and quality as the main objectives. While the iBert Safe-T seat is designed to meet all 1625-00 standards, at this time ASTM 1625-00 is written for rear child carriers not front mounted seats.

4 out of 5 stars We Love This Bike Carrier!   November 23, 2008
Robert (Oakland, CA)
We love this bike carrier, and it's been awesome having it. The only design flaw I would note is the placement of the shoulder strap. Because of where the strap is attached to the back of the seat, it always falls off the shoulders of my daughter. Otherwise, I would recommend this seat before any bike carrier where its placement is behind the bike seat.

5 out of 5 stars You won't regret this purchase!!   November 23, 2008

We love this product! We bought it for our 12-month old son as his first bike seat. And he lOVES it! It's great for him to ride without having to face daddy's back. And my husband had a pretty easy time putting it together as well. Buy it! Enjoy it!

4 out of 5 stars Fabulous product but didn't work for me.   November 16, 2008
Adrienne's (NC)
I absolutely LOVE the design of this product! I thought having my child up front would be perfect, both for her to learn how it feels to ride a bike and to have close interaction. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my bike (a 2008 Giant Sedona). There wasn't enough clearance between the back of her seat and the front of mine. I felt very precarious every time I needed to stop and put my feet down. I'm a small person, but I needed at least another inch to feel like I could quickly and safely make a stop. I think the frame of my bike angles back more than others and it just put the seat too close. So disappointed! PS-This item was VERY easy to install. I did it myself in just minutes!

4 out of 5 stars Great seat! (as long as it fits)   November 14, 2008
Eric (Monterey, CA)
We received our Ibert about a month ago. It is a great seat, but you sort of have to luck out on the geometry.

My bike is an older Trek mountain bike with fairly low handlebars meaning the rider is leaned fairly far forward so I was worried about everything fitting. Installation was very simple and thankfully when we did the test drives with each of the kids (who think the seat is AWESOME!) I just fit. My knees just barely brush the seat, but for the most part I can ride normally with clippless shoes or normal shoes. Pedalling normally my chin is just above my older daughter's helmet. Standing up to pedal is possible, but it is a bit wierd feeling and my kid's head ends up boucing back and forth between my arms. It is a little tight getting off the seat at a stop (in order to put feet flat on the ground), but if I turn the handlebars 45 degrees one way or the other then it is no problem. So, for short stops I just stay on the seat and somewhat uncomfortably hold the bike up with my toes, otherwise the handlebar angle method works well.

Now for the bad news... my wife, who has more leg and less torso as opposed to me who is the opposite, can't use the seat at all. Her knees just won't fit. So, unfortunately this seat is just a matter of finding out whether it will work with your bike and your body. The other downer is that the seat-belts are really poor, it all works fine it is just amazing that they put such a cheap setup in.

In conclusion, as long as it fits (and ignoring the minor seatbelt complaint) this seat is great! The balance is very nice, the kid loves the view, and the seat pops off easily when not in use. Thumbs up.

5 out of 5 stars I Can Ride Again!!!   November 11, 2008
H. Schlossberg (Los Angeles, CA United States)
My son just turned 11 months and he LOVES this seat! I had been riding my bike and exercising soooo much less since my son was born, and I was desperate to get back into a biking routine. Bringing my son along is usually the only option. I first got a bike trailer that wheels along behind the bike. He wouldn't smile or make a sound in the trailer; he couldn't easily see anything outside the trailer except my back tire kicking up pebbles, and I couldn't see him without getting off the bike and looking. The trailer got two uses before I found the iBert seat. Now my son smiles, he laughs, he sings and he sees everything I see. I can talk to him, I can point things out. I don't know about him, but I feel I am actually riding WITH him instead of him just tagging along. With the iBert seat, it has become a SHARED experience. I'm 5'11"; my son is about 32". You must have 3/4" of space on your handle bar stem for this to work. The seat is easy on and easy off for the times I want to ride alone. Leg room is no problem at all. The only issue for me is that I've installed this on a mountain bike where I have to bend over a little. Because of this, my chest probably pushes my son's head forward a couple inches from where it would be naturally. Not a huge deal, though, and it certainly hasn't kept me from just loving this seat.
