Product Description CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is designed specifically for aviation use for children age 1 and older who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds. These youngsters are old enough to be in their own seats, but are too small for the seat belt alone to protect them. Their bodies cannot withstand the jolts that are common in routine transportation, much less emergency situations, and they flail forward or slide beneath the seat belt if they are not held securely in place. Each year more and more young children fly. But until CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint came along, what was missing was a convenient, hassle-free way to keep young flyers safe. Heres what makes CARES such an invaluable travel solution: CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is the first and only aviation Child Safety Device to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an alternative to a car seat. CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is an elegantly designed belt-and-buckle device that works in conjunction with the regular airplane seat belt and provides young travelers the same level of safety as a car seat. CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint weighs just one pound and fits into a 6" stuff sack! It is easily portable, simple to install, adjustable to nearly every size airplane seat, and usable on any seat in the airplane, except in the emergency exit rows. Need your car seat on the other end of the trip? Just check it through as luggage and carry CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint on board in your pocket! CARES is manufactured exclusively by AmSafe Aviation, the foremost manufacturer of aviation seatbelts and pilot restraints in the world. (Turn over your airplane seat belt buckle. Chances are it says AmSafe.) CARES is made of the same industrial-strength webbing as your own seat belt and is engineered to the highest aviation-safety standards. INCLUDES: Restraint, instruction card, instruction video on DVD, and travel bag.

Worth it November 9, 2008 V. Dali (W Sac, CA) It sure beat trying to get down the aisle with a car seat and an active 2-year old! The two things that would be better designed are: (1) my child kept sliding down so I had to keep pulling him up and (2) the red belt rests at about neck level which was a little uncomfortable. We'll definitely keep using it.
Wonderful Product November 2, 2008 Gregory M. Palmer (durham nc) I traveled by myself with my two little children. My son wore the CARES and he was comfortable. He could not stand up in his seat while wearing it, which was great when we were in the process of taking off and he wanted to stand up! It was also nice not to have to lug the carseat through the airport. It just fits in the baby bag and it was really easy to put on the seat and him.
best idea yet October 13, 2008 phil (Jacksonville, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My wife bought this since she is rather short and its hard for her to lug around a car seat and diaper bag and stroller and our son.( and she tends to fly home while im away on business) She set it up in the seat in a matter of minutes and our son loved it. Didnt move or fuss the entire time
Great idea! September 5, 2008 Traveling Mom 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
We purchased this item for a vacation with our 14 month old son and didn't want to lug our huge car seat since we hadn't bought him a seat on the plane. The CARES system was so small and compact that it fit easily into our carry on and since there was an extra seat available we just strapped him in and were ready to go! A great, light weight option for traveling parents and kids!
CARES for Safety July 27, 2008 Candice K. Broom (an American in Laos) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When flying with my children I am always emotionally conflicted about how to keep them safe (being a mother comes with a lot of guilt...). On the one hand, it is physically impossible for me to carry a child, carry on baggage, and a car seat through an airport. Conversely, I find myself wishing I had a safe way to restrain my child when the airplane experiences scary, jolting turbulence. Shouldn't children aged 1-4 be as safe on an airplane as they are in a car? I was relieved when I found a solution that is both easy to carry AND extremely safe. CARES is a child aviation restraint that slides around the seat back and attaches to the lap belt to give young children the much-needed sternum strap that traditional car seats provide. The CARES child flight safety device is the only FAA certified child restraint that is equal to the safety level of a car seat. CARES is manufactured by AmSafe, the leading maker of airplane seat belts and pilot restraints. CARES is the ONLY alternative to a car seat that is permitted on planes. CARES is designed for children between 22 and 44 lbs who sit in their own seat. One thing I love about CARES is that it weighs only 1 lb and folds up very very small: It comes with it's own 6" storage sack and an instructional DVD (although it only takes one minute to install the CARES harness on the plane seat, watching the instructional DVD might boost your confidence). CARES has won numerous awards, including the Good Housekeeping 2008 Good Buy Award, the National Parenting Center 2007 Seal of Approval, and several others! My preschooler thinks CARES is "cool", like a real pilot would wear! It actually did "remind" him to stay in his seat (he is "very active")!
