Versatile, Convertible Design Lasts through Early Childhood
The Nautilus features an extended five-point harness design that can accommodate children over the age of one, from 20 to 65 pounds in weight--a wider range than most other forward-facing car seats. As your child grows, the seat easily converts to a high-back booster and then, lastly, to a backless booster for a child up to 100 pounds in weight. A steel-reinforced frame and superior construction help to ensure safety and durability through years of use.

Built for Comfort and Superior Safety
You can rest assured that your child will have superior protection while riding in the Nautilus, thanks to extensive crash testing and a steel-reinforced structure. The car seat meets or exceeds US Safety Standards, including U.S. Compliance Standard FMVSS 213; the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), with peak Crash Force approximately twice the Car Seat Standard; and tests for Extreme Car Interior Temperatures. EPS energy-absorbing foam provides additional security and comfort.

As well as being secure and safe, your child will feel extra-comfy, too, with an easily adjustable head support, cushioned seat, and wide armrests; a cup holder and side storage keeps snacks and treasures close at hand.

About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

4 out of 5 stars great seat!   March 18, 2010
Daniel's mom (Baltimore, MD)
I had a britax boulevard in my car, and needed a second seat, as I was buying a second car. I was looking for something less expensive than the britax, but with equally good reviews. I found this seat, and gave it a shot. I've had it for about a month, and am happy with it so far. My only complaint in comparing it to the britax was that you have to put it together. but that's not THAT big a deal, and once installed it seems to function just as well, be just as comfortable for my son, and, most importantly, seems and is reported to be just as safe.

1 out of 5 stars Not intended for average to big kids. Design flaw! Save your money!   March 18, 2010

Not intended for average to big kids. Save your money! First, the seat was a bit of a pain to put together but heck I was 7 months pregnant when I did it so maybe it was just me. The seat looks and feels sturdy. However my average size 4 year old was waaaay to big for it. The tether crotch strap is just way too short. It is painful for her cutting into her thighs anr adding pressure to her bottom. I tried to return it but couldn't because I bought it in anticipation for her when it was on sale and Amazon wont take it back. One side of the tether strap is actually 2 or 3 inches shorter on one side. If anyone has had success with a retro fit, I'd love to know about it. My son is a bit smaller... hoping he can use it.

5 out of 5 stars great car seat to last from 1yr thru booster   March 15, 2010
J. Enright (central CT)
I like the fact that this car seat converts so many ways and will last for my children (this is the second one I have bought since my daughter just turned 1 and can sit forward). My kids like them and I hope to not have to buy any more for the rest of their time in car seats/boosters.

1 out of 5 stars May be great, but AWFUL for GERDLINGS   March 9, 2010

My title says it all. Don't get this if your little one has GERD. The angle is terrible. My little one, who is a silent refluxer=no spit ups, vomited all over herself w/i the first 20 minutes in the seat. I knew the angle was off by looking at the seat, but thought I'd try anyway, so upset with myself for putting my little one through it. NOT GERD FRIENDLY and I am out $155.00 (since I obviously can't return it due to the vomit) and am off to find a new seat.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointed   March 6, 2010

I read all the review on amazon and chose to get this carseat anyway. I am bummed on 2 points. The first point is how hard it is to get all the padding off! This is our 5th carseat with our children and it takes me more than 10 minutes to get all the padding off! The second point, which, unfortunately, was one of the major selling points for us is the recline. It barely reclines! Airline seats recline more. Such a bummer. I should have gotten another First Years True Fit, which I am very happy with.
