4 out of 5 stars GREAT THING BUT...   August 18, 2008
F. Hudak (NY USA)
recently purchased Synergy and love it! the fabric is very soft, "breathe through", very comfortable for both parent and baby, great back support. but i gave only 4 stars because there couple things to rethink. first of all if you tall it's not gonna work for you. i bought it for my husband, he is over 6ft and it doesn't fit him at all! i'm 5'7" and it hardly works for me. the thing is there is no adjustment for up and down, only for width. i think its a huge minus.
another thing that i'm not really comfortable is the bottom lock. i'm not sure if it's comfortable for the baby, even though my baby is very happy in this carrier.
otherwise it's a great carrier! little pricy, but good.
i highly recomend this carrier, but only if you're not tall.

5 out of 5 stars Great carrier   July 23, 2008
D. Downs (AZ)
We purchased the synergy because the active carrier had great support but was a little warm. This carrier combines the breathability of the air with the comfort of the active. Its a great product all around. There is still some pressure but the weight is bearable. The baby loves it and falls asleep most of the time!

2 out of 5 stars Not better than the original bjorn   July 18, 2008

I did not find this better than the original bjorn - the extra lumbar support didn't help me or my husband. I think the trekker (a Canadian brand) has better back support because it has a waist band, which is really what the bjorn needs in order to take some of the strain off your shoulders and back.

4 out of 5 stars Best model of BabyBjörn available.   July 18, 2008
Moshe Melo (Israel)
Till today (July 2008) the best model of BabyBjörn available.
However, there are still some things missing:
Variety of colors, better support for back.
In addition, not cheap...

4 out of 5 stars Overall a good carrier   July 4, 2008

After doing lots of research between this and the Ergo, I purchased this today to replace my original Bjorn. I decided on this because I like my other Baby Bjorn, as does my son, and didn't like that the Ergo required an infant insert (which seems hot for summer and a bit complicated to use) until the baby has good head support (3 to 4 months) and didn't allow baby to face out (something my daughter loved when she was still using the Bjorn).

Anyway, this afternoon I wore my 7 week old son for about an hour while doing errands in the house. Keeping in mind it is 97 degrees outside and we do not have air conditioning. He seemed very cool when in the carrier and also when I took him out. After being in the original Bjorn for that long, he is always sweaty and I have to change his clothes, poor guy!

I also felt it was comfortable for me as far as breathe-ability, but did start feeling a little "hot" in the lumbar area which doesn't breathe well.

As I stated before, I have the original baby bjorn and used it for my daughter but wanted this one because of the mesh material considering it's summer time (my daughter was a winter baby so the thicker material of the original carrier was just fine for her) and the lumbar support for me as my son is about 14 pounds and my back aches after having him in the original Bjorn for any length of time.

I did notice an improvement in my posture while wearing him and my back didn't hurt, but my shoulders still ached as they do when wearing him in the original bjorn.

I also don't like that there isn't as much head support as you get with the original Bjorn. The material is too soft around the head. Perhaps I just need to play with the straps a bit to get it right...I just felt he was a bit more "wobble" headed in this one than he is in the orignal Bjorn. He also doesn't sit as high...perhaps again another adjustment I need to make.

I wish it came in more colors; I have the white one and suspect it will need frequent washing! Also again, I wish the head support was a bit firmer.

Overall I'm not sure it's a great improvement over the original Bjorn and definitely not worth the $160 price tag - especially considering you can get the orignal for about $50 now and the others (air and active) for about $80! I'm still debating on whether I am going to take it back - not sure it's such a great improvement to justify the price tag.

But it's a good carrier, I do like it, thus the 4 stars, but again, not much of an improvement over the original Bjorn.
