Amazon.com Product Description This set of three 5-oz. Breastflow bottles is ideal for moms who want to introduce baby to bottle feeding. The Breastflow feeding system is designed to allow baby to suck from the bottle via a unique two-part nipple system that encourages the same compression and suction action used in breastfeeding. The familiarity of the feeding technique means baby is not alienated from the breast and can happily switch from breast to bottle and back again. This is perfect for mothers who need to supplement feedings because of returning to work or having baby in day care. The bottle pack includes a Stage 1 slow flow nipple, which is useful in helping to prevent colic by making sure baby isn't sucking in excess air while feeding. Plus, each bottle is short, squat and wide-necked so they are a cinch to fill and clean.
Product Description The 5 oz Breastflow bottle is ideal for newborns and young infants and includes a Stage 1, slow flow nipple. Includes three 5 oz bottles and three Stage 1 Breastflow nipples.Breastflow is the only feeding system that requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding. The nipple is designed to mimic the breast so baby can latch on and to encourage the same mouth and tongue position as breast feeding. The double nipple system requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding and baby controls the flow of milk. It's the bottle most like breastfeeding.

Neat Design September 29, 2008 Kristi L. Grant (Arkansas) This bottle has a cool design but I just have a picky baby. He would not take this bottle. We've tried lots of different bottles and the only one he will kind of take is the playtex nurser.
great at first, degrades over time... August 31, 2008 G. Daniels 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Here's what believe is a fair an unbiased review of this product after using it for four months. Our son loved it and we had absolutly no problems with nipple confusion. It does what it says it does in my opinion, it's probably the best bottle for use while also breastfeeding. That is unfortunatly where the pro's end. In the beginning they don't leak. It seems like as they're washed the outer silicone nipple starts to loosen up a little it gets caught between outer ring and the second nipple as it's tightened, which causes gaps and leaks. We had roughly a month of leak free use, and then two months of use tightening and loosening the lid trying to find the "sweet" spot where it was both tight enough and not too tight. Maybe they only expect the nipples to last a month...? They don't leak while the baby's using it, it's when you lift it upright that your hand gets soaked from the milk draining from the upper nipple. As the baby sucks the upper nipple compresses, this seems to be normal and probably best imitates breast feeding. As feeding goes on though it compresses to a point where the baby's sucking against a vacuume and nothing is coming out, which is when you have to take it away and vent some air in. Taking food away from our hungry baby usually results in some yelling until it's returned... It'd be nice if these were vented like most of the other brands out there now. There's always a little bit of wasted milk that gets caught between the outer nipple and inner nipple. It's not much, i just measured it and it's a little under a half a tablespoon. They only way to get it that low is to repeatedly push the milk back into the bottle and out of the outer nipple toward the end of feeding, otherwise you end up with a few tablespoons in the outer nipple and the baby sucking air from the inside. It's a little annoying. In summary, it's great early on while acclimating the baby to both bottle and breast and limiting nipple confusion. Once our baby was past that point we switched to a more standard bottle that doesn't leak and doesn't have to be taken away to be vented all the time. Most of the problems above are just simple engineering problems that are easily solved, hopefully they address them in the next version.
The best bottles for breastfed babies! July 22, 2008 Patricia F. Dos Reis Very good these bottles! I suggest them to all the parents who need to feed their children while they are being breastfed!
good for breastfed babies... June 29, 2008 T. Gover (Arizona) I bought this product cuz I'm exclusively breastfeeding my daughter but occasionally she has to be away from me. Well, i read similar reviews to this that recommended this bottle so I got it and left my daughter(6 weeks) w/grandma for a few hours. she took to it like a champ and then when I got home, she ate regularly and no issues occurred with her latch. I recommend this bottle.
Excellent tool to teach bottle feeding for BreastFed babies! June 9, 2008 S. Van (Tampa, FL) My first son learned from the bottle since he spent two weeks in the NICU when born. It took me 3 months to teach him to breastfeed. During that time, I used the DR BRown system, which I love. When number two came along, I immediately gave him the Dr Brown bottles with no issues since I wanted to make sure he knew breast and bottle. Well I got lazy/tired and went two months without giving him a bottle everyday to make sure he remembered it. After two months, he refused the bottle. I tried the Dr Brown, the NAM bottles, and then the Breastflow. I had problem for the first few days but realized that if you don't flood the chamber, he was just sucking a little milk and mostly air. As soon as I flooded it, he took to it IMMEDIATELY. I found this out by filling the bottle with water and seeing how easy it was for me to suck it out. I realized I was getting nothing but air. Flood the chamber but pressing in on the tabs that normally release milk back into the bottle. If you hold it upside down, push the tabs, and cover the nipple, it floods the chamber. I have to say that the base of the nipple is nice and fat like a real breast and the nipple material is really nice and soft. It gives really easily. I don't give it 5 stars because I still think alot of air gets in there and the way the nipple completely collapses in his mouth creating more air pockets between his lips and nipple surface. Now that he is taking the bottle again, I have switched back to the DR brown system for the way they eliminate all the air. I am a mommy who went back to work sooner than expected and was frantic to get him back onto the bottle. I pump and freeze my milk. For getting him back onto the bottle, this system was GREAT but not a great bottle. It was worth the money for a temporary system and teaching tool. I used this for a week.
