Amazon.com Product Reviews

Finding a suitable child restraint system when baby outgrows his infant car seat is much easier with the Cosco high back booster car seat. Although car seat laws vary from state to state, the general trend has been to raise age and weight minimums. Many states have already mandated that children should remain in a booster seat until age 8 and 80 pounds.

Cosco high back booster seat is a car seat that grows with your child.

One of the most economical car seats on the market from a trusted brand dedicated to safety and value, the high back booster seat provides comfort and protection for your most precious cargo.

For toddlers from 22 to 40 pounds and meeting the age requirement to upgrade from an infant seat, the forward-facing restraint system employs an internal five-point harness with a two-piece chest clip to keep your child secure. The seat is equipped with the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system for cars that are capable of using this feature, but it also allows parents to use the automobile seatbelts. It has two harness heights for a better fit, although this does require rethreading.

When the top harness guides are below the child's shoulders and the child weighs over 40 pounds, remove the harness and convert the seat into a belt-positioning booster. The two belt positioning guides will ensure a snug fit. The maximum weight for the belt-position booster seat is 80 pounds.

The booster seat is wide and roomy. The padded area around the head gives children space to doze in the back seat. The removable cup holder clips onto the side of the car seat and comes in handy for longer trips. It is reachable by the child, which is sometimes overlooked by other car seat makers. The padding is comfortable and is fully removable. The manufacturer recommends washing it in warm, sudsy water. The plaid isn't haute couture, but this car seat is more focused on safety and value, and it meets all expectations. --Scott Teal

4 out of 5 stars Basic but sufficient car seat   September 30, 2008
Jeffrey A. Groves (Raleigh, NC USA)
This seat was bought to be the last car seat that we will need to use.

Our son is particularly tall and light for his age, so we needed a seat that accommodated both his height at his shoulders and his weight.

This seat provided the basics and is well constructed. That being the case, the only thing that we feel is missing is the extra padding on the strap that the top of the line seats come with.

The seats are functional and very attractive.

5 out of 5 stars Nice carseat for the price   September 29, 2008
Michelle Kloss (Ellicott City, MD)
We purchased this carseat as a "spare" to have in our second vehicle. It is a great choice to use occasionally; I feel it offers more support than a booster without a back.

4 out of 5 stars Good for the price   September 25, 2008
A. Draper
After shopping at a couple of stores and not finding two of the same seats in stock, I purchased two of these to replace car seats that were just too old. They aren't plush but they work nicely and are easy to install. For the price, they are great (and I didn't have to drive to the store to get them).

4 out of 5 stars Nice seat; amazingly inexpensive   September 15, 2008
R. McLennan (Evanston, IL USA)
Pros: Light weight; easy to use buckle/tightening; price
Cons: Thin padding; may not fit all cars

We bought this as a second car seat for our 2 1/2 year-old daughter. Although she is at the low end of the weight recommendation, the seat fits her well. Not nearly as well padded as pricier seats, but she doesn't seem to mind, even on long trips. Easy to buckle and tighten. Very lightweight (great for airline travel!) One downside is the configuration of the LATCH clips and belt; on one rental car I had to wedge a folded towel under the seat to be able to tighten it properly. Overall a decent product at an amazing price.

5 out of 5 stars Great Selection!   September 15, 2008
D. Hodge
This was the second time we purchased this same product...it is a great deal for the price. Our son is very comfortable and the product holds up over time-easy to clean.
