Product Description Keep comfort close at hand with Baby Bjorn's lightweight mesh carrier.
Amazon.com Review Having spent nearly the last five decades innovating ideas for infants and toddlers, BabyBjörn is consistently tweaking their products to meet parents' high standards of quality, functionality, and safety. So it's no surprise that they finally designed one of their famous carriers specifically for hot climates. The BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Air has many of the features that make their other designs so popular, like an adjustable, built-in head support for newborns, padded shoulder straps for distributing baby's weight, and machine-washable fabric. But this version is meant to be used for short periods (there is no lumbar support as with the BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Active) and in warmer temperatures, as the flexible mesh material effectively wicks moisture and heat away from parent and baby. | | When infants face outward, the built-in head support for newborns folds down in front. | An important point to take into consideration is whether or not anyone who wil be wearing the carrier requires more back support, or if wearers will be using the carrier for extended periods of time. While the Carrier Air is comfortable enough, the Carrier Original and Carrier Active both offer better lumbar and shoulder support. One of those may be a better choice for active parents or longer hauls.
Amazon.com Product Description Made for parents who live in warm climates, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Air lets you enjoy the freedom of movement and bonding time with your child. Made of unique, breathable material, this carrier is specially designed to be light and airy when the temperature heats up.

Made from a truly breathable 3D mesh fabric that efficiently wicks away both heat and moisture from both you and your baby, this carrier provides up to 138 percent better heat flow and 30 percent better moisture flow than other models. Flexible and Supportive Made to be comfortable and supportive for both parents and babies, the BabyBjorn Carrier Air features padded shoulder straps that evenly distribute baby's weight to help minimize strain on mom or dad's back, neck and shoulder. Soft and flexible, the carrier also shapes itself to gently conform to baby's body and feels comfortable on baby's face. Additionally, it provides excellent support for your growing child's back and head, and ensures that baby's legs and arms are in a physiologically correct position. And the adjustable, built-in head support is especially ideal for newborns or younger babies who cannot yet hold up their head. Finally, as your child grows, the neck-rest can be folded down so that the child may be carried facing forwards, an option that lets him or her look around and enjoy their surroundings while still safe and secure. Easy-care, Safe Design Compact and lightweight, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Air is easy to store and take with you on excursions. It's also machine washable and dries quickly after washing. Additionally, it's approved in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1, eco-certification, so you can trust that this carrier safe for baby. For added convenience, the carrier comes with a practical storage bag in a pocket on the inside for space-saving storage when not in use. The Baby Bjorn Synergy is a better bet August 21, 2008 C. Valerio (CA United States) We own the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier, and we all love it! However, it is too hot for summer heat, so we opted to purchase this item--the Baby Bjorn Air Carrier. Without the lumbar support, all of the baby's weight is on the shoulders, and my husband could feel a huge difference. We didn't know Baby Bjorn had a new "Air" carrier, the Synergy, until we visited their website. It is made out of the same fabric as this one but is designed like the Active Carrier. So we are returning this one for the Synergy. Your lower back is well-worth the extra money! One less trip to the chiropractor or massage therapist will make up the difference!
Not for heavier babies August 7, 2008 Mabel (New York, NY, USA) We received the Baby Bjorn Air Carrier from our friends. It was good for the first few months. But as other reviewers have written it is not so great once your baby gets heavier. We had to get the Bjorn Active. It comes with an attached baggie for you to stuff the Bjorn into. A nice idea, but the rolled up carrier is not much smaller. There is no way you can roll the Bjorn up and stuff it into the bag with one hand. We found it was easier to just put it into the stroller basket or hang it from the stroller handles. The material feels rough. And it feels flimsy compared to the other Bjorns.
Love my baby bjorn August 2, 2008 A. Harding This is a very nice carrier. My 9 lb newborn fits great. It is easy to get on and off. It washes well on gentle cycle. The only thing that could be better is that the material doesn't seem very soft or comfy against the baby's skin. I use a burp cloth to cover the areas were her face press against the material. It is worth the money though.
Love this carrier! June 8, 2008 Addie's Mom (Florida Keys) I absolutely love this carrier. I admit, I tried a cheap knock off soft carrier and it was so uncomfortable for both me and my baby. She cried in that one, but she loves the Bjorn. I also like the material on this one. It's nice and cool for hot days in the Keys, which is pretty much year round! This carrier is great on my back and it's very easy to adjust. Highly recommend this carrier!
Best piece of baby gear I own May 31, 2008 E. Meydenbauer (California) My child is only 12 pounds now at 4 months so I can't speak to the reviews that express back pain with the BB. I haven't experienced any of that, maybe because I started putting him in the BB every day right after he came home from the hospital so I have gotten gradually stronger as he's gotten gradually heavier. What I can say is that this BB has made my life so much easier. We have 2 dogs and it is difficult to walk them with a stroller (they keep getting run over or tangled). So I put my baby in the BB and can walk the dogs with no problem, even having a hand free. Plus it is a good workout for my core and quads carrying that extra weight on our walks and it forces me to maintain my posture when picking up the dogs' business. I also use it at the grocery store so that his car seat doesn't take up room in the cart. My husband likes wearing it too but most importantly, the baby LOVES to be in the BB, either asleep or awake. As far as keeping cool in it versus the other BB, I would say to choose this one. My baby is like a radiator and you can always put more layers on the baby to keep him warm as necessary, but when it's hot out, you want this breathable fabric instead of the hotter one. I highly recommend this product.
